The exterior of a theater to join our Cafe Corner buildings.
About this creation
9/24/09: Here's an in-process update on the interior - progress has been a bit slow as life has been busy the past few months. I've laid out the stage and curtains, and figured out how to get the seats in place on an angle. I figured I'd show you a bit of my process...I get the layout done first in whatever colors I have available, then I'll decide which colors look best for the final. The next big thing for me to figure out will be the "splitting" of the front of the stage between the second and third levels. Putting in the walls behind the main floor seating should be relatively simple (compared to figuring out the split), so I'll leave that for later.

A theater to go with our Cafe Corner buildings.

As with other Cafe Corner buildings, the 3 floors separate. At this point just the exterior is complete...interior to come...

And a shot of the street with the theater.

I can't wait to see the rest. So far so good! We need the consession stand and rest rooms. Maybe a balcony! Don't forget the posters!

Wow, this is truly a magnificent building. The details are fantastic and the tan and green works fantastically together.

Quoting Jason Sovereign did you ever happen to do this moc in LDD and are you willing to share. Great job
Hi Jason, thanks for the compliment. I actually worked out the mechanics of the first floor (what angles could I get, etc) in LDRAW, then pretty much did the rest outside of the computer. It wouldn't take too long to put together a full LDRAW file of the model that I'd be happy to share, but I'm not an LDD user.

Every town needs a great looking theater. I really like that it has an interior. Very nice job!!

As others have mentioned, your color scheme is great and the detail level of the facade is perfect in its minimalism. I especially like the balcony style upper windows.

I have to agree with all of the earlier comments. The color combination is very nice and balanced (something I find a little difficult), and there are no overdone decorations on the building. Mixes nicely with TLG's original buildings as well, which is a big plus in my eyes.

Absolutely a beauty! The color scheme is a nice blend and I like the checkered pattern grays.

This is hands down one of the best modular designs I've seen lately. Perfect in size and colouring, but what makes this one really stand out is its awesome facade - neither too ornamented, nor too simplistic. It's just marvellous. Can't wait to see the interior :)

Absolutely beautiful! Great colour scheme, one of my favourites. I didn't expect it to look so big against Cafe Corner though, although it looks perfect in place alongside the modular collection, a great make! :D H§

Quoting Linda Armstrong Excellent exterior! How will you work the theater concept into 3 modules?
Thank you! I've had a few ideas for the interior, and have tried a few different concepts in LDRAW, but I won't actually figure it out until I'm building. Basically I'm looking at the entrance on the ground floor, with stairs on the left side (looking from the front) of the building. The second floor (first floor for our European friends) will have a landing on the left, and the main floor of the theater with the stage on the right side of the building (a sideways layout). The top floor would then be the balcony, with the landing on the left, and open to the floor below about 2/3 of the way towards the right. We'll see how it works out when it comes time to actually building it.
