Imperial Phantom, Voidfighter class. For the FBTB contest.
About this creation
Built for the FBTB Voidfighter contest, the goal of this was to build a fighter from the short description provided.
I ended up tied for 5th place so thats nice.

1X Heavy (but fragile) Beamlaser
2x Torpedo tubes, 4x torpedo capacity

My apoligies for the grainy pictures.

Share and enjoy.

Strangely enough the inspiration for the shape of this ship came from the sleek frame of a wireless headphone charger..

I love the way that Bohrok head piece thingy fits in with the rest of the ship.

Its got probably the most Spartan cockpit interiour design I have ever made.
Odd considering I normally put a lot of effort into the innards of my ships..
Meh

Finally I found a use for those printed blue slopes that came from that blue LOM robot.

Forgive the crappy rear thruster block, I should have used light grey thrusters instead of just slapping on those blue droid bodies.

The neural interface allows the user to establish a mental link directly to the computer which allows extremely effective and impressive control over the ship.
Also it is not without its drawbacks..

Many Void pilots become so immersed that there body simply dies and shrivels up and the mind becomes one with the ships computer..
Which leads to the next pilot to take over it going insane because the absorbed pilot still acts in command..
Then they get absorbed and the cycle goes on.

Intill an Imperial IT man decides to delete em because there taking up to much room and he wants to install "Tiger Wood's killzone rally challenge golf tour 98"..
The old pilots still have use once they have left there physical self behind though.
There bodies makes quite good but slightly possesed Imperial lawn fertilizer.
Or simply grinded up to feed the masses.

very, very nice, but i agree with scorp. it doesnt quite fit what i think a voidfighter would look like. overall, though, its an amazing ship, the likes of which are not seen often on this site.

I love the retroness and streamline'ness of this...would have been cooler with some 50's caresque fins at the back though, I think

If the contest had just been to make a cool-looking black ship, I would probably have voted for your entry. Despite the fact that it doesn't look like the voidfighter description (to me), everything else about the ship is just plain awesome! I absolutely love the wings, the guns, the construction method used on the nose, etc. Those sand blue patterns on the nose are so smooth they look like they were painted. And I had no idea the Bohrok shell could make such a nice windshield. Fantastic job!
