Working assault rifle cartridge
Working lego cartridge
About this creation
To clarify my story on working Lego cartridges (seen in the thread "working lego cartridges" in Gun Smiths), I decided to take some pictures of my latest prototype.

This is the most succesful cartridge I made (of several). It uses a shock absorber spring to propel the bullet. Best of all, it sticks to the bullet, so you don't have to look for the bullet AND spring after you fire it.

You need these parts to build it. I took the spring from a lego shock absorber as these are fairly common, but another spring might work also.

Wrap the end of the spring around the protrusion in the 3 stud pin.

Put the 3 stud pin in the tube and insert the firing pin in the back.

You only need to push the firing pin very lightly to make the bullet fly out of the tube, which is good, because a gun build around this cartridge wouldn't need a very strong hammer.

Well, so far for the good part. The downsides on this are the lack of range (about 8-9 feet i guess) and the fact that I've not yet succeeded in building a properly functioning gun around this (the one I have now jams about half the time). Maybe I'll find something on that later.

nice, as for an automatic weapon you'd just need to find aanother way to move the hammer.

well, good design. I also made a cartridge that needs only one tube, but Iīm working on it so I canīt post it now. It is not bigger than your normally rounds, but evrythings insíde( you have to cut some pieces for it). the only thing I dislike on every round is that it has nearly no blowback power. so you canīt made a fully automatic weapon that works like the real in everything ( in blowback operated weapons, like the mp5) but, like I said, very good design, unfortunately I hadnīt the time yet to build a weapon around it.

Same principal as Lucas'. Very nice, I like this better since it uses only 1 tube cause I don't have many of them. Nice job, I wonder if anymore will come out like this.

Jammer dat het niet zo krachtig is, want het is een prachtig idee. Als ik jouw was, zou ik nog maar even wat verder eraan sluitelen.
