The Gray Ghost is my third mini-fighter MOC featuring the modified cockpit design shared with us by Space Pirate. If you're a spacer, you gotta try this. This one went through a couple different configurations (yeah, that black piece on the bottom should be dark gray -- send me one if you have a spare, huh?) I was going to use another trash can engine, but decided against it.
No back story on this one (See White Lightning and Red Baron for the story so far). I really hemmed and hawed over the wings -- I really wanted to do something with those curved pieces, so I compromised a bit but I think it's ok.
Ok, just a little bit of story telling: The Gray Ghost is the only pocket fighter in the Pirate fleet with cloaking capability. The stealth technology was adapted by Buzzard O'Brian, pilot of the Gray Ghost. Buzzard once served in the United Planets Defense Force, but was kicked out of the service after one too many nights of hitting the sauce so hard the buzzards mistook his passed out butt for a corpse. His hard drinking has never interferred with his flying, or his ability to mangle the language in a way even a sailor would blush.
I like this for a number a reasons. First, it just looks good. It's one of those MOC's you stop and go...wow...that is really clever. Great piece use and a really nice color scheme. In addition to that...it borrows the name of a great song by Mike Doughty. Awesome...pure awesome.
Nice ship. I like those curved pieces too but haven't ever used them much. Especially the orange ones I got from the Exo-Forces sets. That Phipson is so out of touch. Twenty bucks isn't going to go far today better add a sawbuck. see ya. garth
Sweet ship Dennis! It's "Jetsons" meets "Star Wars!" Hope you have room in your car for all these things next week. May need to just leave your daughter at home with 20 bucks for food and let her learn a little self reliance. ~ Chris.
