Sci-Fi Base HQ: WIP
One of the building modules for the base I'm working on. I plan on placing 4 extra large baseplates together and then put a large wall around the entirety of the base. I will then continue to place the individual buildings inside the walls in order to complete the base. This module will become the main HQ. AS you can see it isn't built on a baseplate, so there is no interior on the first level, thus the WIP. It does have an interior on the second layer however. I already have 4 other buildings a bit smaller than this one, and I plan on building 3-5 more before placing them all together. I was orininally having quite a bit of trouble, because I did not have enough flats to build a roof for a base of the dimensions I wanted. But thanks to LegoLord's The Dawn Core: Omega Weekday, Aircraft Facility, I've realized that the entire base does not need to be under the same roof. thus saving lots of precious flats.
About this creation

A view from the front. I apologize for the terrible entrance into the building, I plan on either changing this, or adding a sliding door with a locking mechanism.

A view from the back. I only did a little greeblying here, there's a lot more on the roof and sides.

A view from the top. I really tried to copy Sean Gentile's Maintenance Checkpoint Base for the roof part. Thanks Sean.

I had a lot of fun working on this feature of the base. Because of the SNOT I used for the side of the second level, I was able to make the roof detach via a hinge.

Opening.

Fully opened.

Once the top is opened, the second roof can be removed (ya, thats right, I put two roofs on).

Some of the tech stuff

idk why I posted this, but, more tech stuff...

And here's the SNOT wall and window. I wasn't sure what I wanted to use as the window, and the glass I was going to use was already in another building, so I decided to invert the pieces that I had with SNOT. The hardest part was getting the roof on.

The wall greeblying on the side, it's identical to the other side.

Some roof greeblying. The hoses that go around the corner are original.

Here you can see some of the greeblies from the previous picture, as well as the skylight.

WIth the top level next to the bottom level.

With the top removed

Quoting unreal snyper this is pretty cool. ive seen alot of bases but this looks awsome. on a side note are you planning on putting legs underneath the second story or something? it looks a little like its falling or unstable.
No, that's part of the design, it just hangs over. It's actually perfectly stable.

i think it is great. i have a suggestion tho if u still have it. i think u should turn it into a ship the top could be the bridge and if you converted the bottom to look more streem line it would be a great shuttle or battleship...with a few guns.

Nice work, the only problem I have, is that the roof of the whole thing is study, maybe covering it with smooth stud-less pieces would keep that building feeling. greta job though, with huge amounts of detail.

Great start! I love the interior, it looks really detailed and thought out! The greeblies on the outside makes it look extremely realistic, especially the hoses. The opening door looks really nice. I The overall design looks really good and stable! P.S. please check out my MIllennium Falcon WIP (my pride in joy 0

Man, great job on this Evan! You did a great job with the controls in the inside and the details on the front and stuff. I love the shape how the bridge hangs off the main part and the SNOT on this isn't bad either. Great work over-all! Oh, and could you check out my latest installment of my series, "Brothers in Arms?"
