Temple of Doom
My first Lego Creation in a LONG time, since my financial crisis in early 2009. So, now you can enjoy the fiery depths of the climax of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom!
About this creation
Ah, the Temple of Doom, or Temple of Kali, whichever one you like. Lair of Mola, hideout of the Thuggees, and site of Indy's second cinematic adventure.
So anyways, Temple of Doom is my favorite Indy film, and favorite all time movie. But, while you stare at this beauty and listen to the building techniques here and in the help file, don't thikn of the heart-ripping, lava sacrificing, "KALI-MA" Chanting lair of Mola Ram(coolest minifig EVER!). It's just one of my best creations!
I'm weirding you guys out, aren't I?

The side corner of the Temple. Note: this column piece is no longer available in any current sets. This section hides a column which connects the plates above. That keeps it altogether, and is a BIG part of this creation's update.

Okay, so you've seen the column pieces on the corners(you DID see them right?) now, and this is one of the supports for weight. The weight of all the plates on here spread out and make it dip down, and with this solid side, BAM! Straight as a plank(speaking of which, don't forget to buy some Lego Pirate sets, ARGH!{ARGH, because I'm not paid for this advertising!})

The support columns. These hold the plates on the side together, thus keeping the weight supports straight. All that turns into pefect proportions!

The horrifying, ominous, lethal(well, it holds the cage so yeah, lethal) STATUE OF KALI! Simplicity worked best for me, and some SNOT construction on the mouth made it three times better than last time. Plus, the arms have fingers including a THUMB!
Oddly, i have an idea for a lowering mechanism, but for the arm size to be propotionally correct with the body, it would be GIGANTIC!

The Skull Altar for Sankara Stones, and, BUM BUM BUUUMMMM...THE LAVA PIT! Okay, so the cage wasn't all that great, but the framing of this creation was centered around the fact that you can actually LOWER the cage INTO the pit.
It's a VERY important, yet overlooked feature in many people's gimme versions of this scene.

Here's a close up on the statue's arms. The ones holding the sword and bag are made of hinges, and the others...oh, okay, so they ARE hinges, but since they don't bend as much there's only two pairs.
And you may have noticed the statue is black. It just worked better that way, and it made sense with the movie.

Okay, next is the part I call the ROOFING. It's the edge of the tempel in basic terms. The columns unfortunately aren't as accomplished as they should be, but if I make some better ones, chances are I won't delete this creation to post it(don't get you hopes up).

Some more roofing, along with torch holders.

And a final bonus shot, staring up from the lava; at which point you'd probably be dying.

So, I hope you enjoyed journeying into the Temple of Doom/Kali, and don't forget to check out my other Indiana Jones creations(sorted by movies).
I hope to see comments and ratings(Ewen, this means YOU:-) )!

He goes from China, to Lazarus Island, to India, to Iraq, and finally to Egypt. Only the last third is in the desert. Anyway, be warned; the ending is an extended bit after the main plot, fufilling the subplot about the crystal skull of Cozan. But it's a good book. Keep reading it!

Quoting Ewen Albright Calm yourself, I'm getting to it. Nice, and nice Kali statue. Best I've seen, really. Now that your temple is about perfect, how about some book MOCs? Oh, and how'd you like Secret of the Sphinx?
I haven't finished yet, AND WHY THE %$^& IS HE IN CHINA!? I thought it was in the DESERT!
