Welcome to coverage of day two of BrickWorld 2009! Friday June, 19th. Today was even better than yesterday! More people arrived and most of the mocs were set up and Lee Jones and I even discussed joining a Lego Train Club (Ok, only about 5 of you are going to get that joke, but if you were there...) The main pic is the main room (out of three). That guy in the green shirt there is none other than Dave Xandager! Let's take a look around and see what we can see.
Shoved in the corner as usual, Mark and I had a nice little nook carved out for ourselves. But let's walk around and see what else we can find.
Here's Matija's set up right next to Mark and I.
This thing was just too cool not to invade!
Not very often do you find that fishy smell at a LEGO convention. But rest assured, if it's there, you can be sure I'd find it.
Lee Jones' army set up. In his words "After ten hours of just placing the figs on the plates. I F%#*#@g hate them." That's ok Lee, we'll love em for ya!
This is Brian Kescenovitz's contribution to the APOC table. You really have to see this in person to grasp the sheer size of it and the amount of detail he put into it. The cracks in the street were a beautiful touch... probably shouldn't put the words "beautiful touch," "crack" and "Kescenovitz" in the same sentence should I?
Tried to come up with a funny caption for this one but... I got nothin, it's just cool! Make your own joke if you must.
MOCpages own George Kemper! I know you can't see it in ths pic here, but he did a really cool thing with that little building for lights. The ceiling is hollow and filled with small bulbs from IKEA and then there's trans bricks on the underside of the ceiling so you get the effect of actual ceiling lights! Great job George! Hopefully he'll post it so you can see it.
You may remember this little number as the winner of Kieth Goldman's "You Control the Action" contest this year.
MST3K in all it's glory! Lego Tom Servo and Crow are cool enough, but when you build them basically life size, even better!
And you thought LEGO only ever made plastic blocks. This wooden toy boat was made by Lego DECADES ago. See, your mom was right, you do learn something new every day.
A close up shot of the card in front of the boat.
These 6 inch (give or take) bricks are nearly as old as Dennis Price! Lego has come a LONG way over the years.
Here's the amazing layout by Dave and Stacy Sterling! You can see my ROFLcopter on the left and the massage parlor is to the right. I am so honored that they asked me to add to this. THANK YOU GUYS!
Here's "Happy Endings" right next to Starbucks. I guess it's good for when the girls need a quick pick me up after having to "service" Kelso.
And speaking of Kelso, Look who decided to show up! Thanks for bringing him along Brian!
Gotta love truth in advertising.
Heather even dusted off her beach house for the trip! Oh, and if you haven't seen it yet, jump on over to Flickr and check out Dave's post about Heather's amazing packing job for shipping this to them... let's just say that plastic grocery bags are a great packing material... ok, maybe not.
Stacy's Harry Potter set up. Just amazing work all around here. Oh, and if I knew in advance about just how "excited" she got when someone gave her Harry Potter sets, I'd have brought 10 of em for her myself!
The Twin Lug table. We're really sorry that Garth couldn't make it, but at least some of his mocs did!
Nannan's little set up... and I use the term "little" VERY loosely here. This thing is HUGE!
Ok, so the story goes like this... Some of the kids were having trouble spelling my last name. And really, who can blame them, I can't spell anything anyway. So Dennis, in his infinate wisdom started the "Chip Philson Fan Club" here on mocpages. I show up Friday morning and Dave Sterling's standing behind his table and Dennis is on the other side. I walk up and say hi and Dave is standing there, puffing up his chest. It takes me a second but then I realize what he's doing. That's when I see the shirt... I turn to my left and Dennis is standing there in one as well... It was at this point that I fell to the floor in convulsions of laughter. Dennis had a number of these made and passed them out to most of the "posse". For the next 15 minutes or so I kept seeing the guys come in wearing "Chip Philson Fan Club" t-shirts. Needless to say we needed a pic with the whole group. (Heather gave her shirt to Alex Eylar since she had her own sig-fig shirt on that day.) So, let's go down the list and move on cause I've talked WAY too much here... From left to right: Stacy Sterling, Lee Jones, (Don't know who that kid is in the back, but we're gonna have some photoshop fun with him later), Mark kelso, Dave Sterling, Dennis Price, Alex Eylar and Heather. That meat sack being held up is me... in case you couldn't figure it out.
And now I can show you Dennis Price's layout (with him in THE shirt).
And now... may I present to you, the one, the only, THE man! SEAN KENNEY! I told you guys I needed to invest in knee pads for BrickWorld!
At around 4:00, it was time for the opening ceremonies. Of course we decided to sit in the back and heckle. Kelso and Price were to my right and to the left, the Sterling's, Brian K, Sean Kenney, Matija Grguric, Heather... and that bare foot you see at the end belongs to Alex Eylar.
Fourth Wall Commentary: Ok, two days down and two to go! This has been an almost religious experience for me. I am, unfortunately, not going to be there on Saturday (couldn't get off of work) so I won't be doing a day three post. I was however, able to con Dennis Price into doing it. So go ahead and jump on over and see what I missed. Click...
Alrighty then, I'll be posting day 4 on Wednesday or Thursday depending on time. Hope to see a lot of you there on Sunday! Oh, and David B., It was nice to meet you last night. Sorry I had to run off so quickly. Come find me on Sunday and we'll catch up.
I'd just like to point out that this Matthew Mckay below me has commented at least twice on these talking about other peoples stuff... consideration, people! oh and come check out my mocs!
(that was a joke by the way.)

I don't think I'd ever be worthy of ever having a table for my stuff at BrickWorld. My creations just aren't that epic, if you know what I mean. And Lee Jones has a heck of a lot of minifigs!!!!!
Oh man! I was there on Day 2 yet I didn't run into anyone, even though I probably did and didn't recognize them. Well, it could be that I didn't know that MOCpages existed until that day, when I found a card at the entrance. Speaking of entrance, I met a guy that had an uncanny relationship to Sean Kenney. I wonder if it was him? Well, I'll have to find your stuff next year.
Quoting Emperor Ludgonious
You really know how to twist the dagger!
It's a talent really... and would you just suck it up and get here for 2010?!?! I mean come on man... what is it, a 5 hour drive? I'm sure we can have someone come get ya HAHAHA Seriously, hope you can make it next year. The pics and witty commentary don't do the event justice AT ALL! Here's hoping! ~ Chris.
Quoting Lee Jones
How come I didn't get to hold up the butt? Lee.
I've heard the stories you've got about you and people's butts... not a chance buddy!

This weekend was the absolute BEST! I am SO coming back next year, but this time I'm getting in on Wednesday and not leaving until Monday. Too much fun to pack into so few days. Oh yeah, and nice guns Phippy, I made sure to get a good squeeze. :)
Words can not describe how fantastic Brickworld was, it was great that you took the time to share the event with those who couldn't join us.
By the way, Happy Endings was a perfect addition to the layout and we are so glad that you were willing to help add some class to the town :)
Awesome job Chris! Day three is live on my page. Folks, the thing everyone needs to know about Brickworld is that there is no way Chris and I can even approach how awesome it is to be here. Ya gotta come next year! http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/129488
Thanks for sharing this with us Chris, we're here far away from this fantastic world and it's good to see it at least on the web, I hope I could make it to one of these con things someday, keep sharing these fantastic events with us, Chris.
Now, if somebody is willing to pay into the 'skint 18 year old fund' , and raise money for transporting a me and a huge 1/3 scale lego lamborghini halfway across the world from europe to america (and back), I'll glady come along next year.
Otherwise I'll just have to stick with seeing photos of it :(
Who wouldn't bow down to Kenney? Great coverage Chris, which is great because it'd cost me at least $1000 to get a plane ride and nice hotel all the way from Canada. (Lee Jones is sooo lucky! and his army is cool too. . .) Anyway, thanks for keeping me posted!
I don't know what could beat Tom Servo and Crow as the best creations at Brickworld. I just got back from Brickworld and, other than the huge crowd at BrickArms, it was amazing. I should have gone and met Mark Kelso though. That's the only builder that I recognized that was there. I saw him there but I didn't go and talk to him or anything. Maybe (hopefully) next year I will do a display at Brickworld.
haha! way to go, bro! everything looks amazing outthere, I really LOVE that swan! Swantastic! two questions for you: what is it with that pic with Sean in a sweaty shirt and you on your knees that disturbs me? and; would you please never put "Kescenovitz" and "crack" in the same sentence again??? Thank you.
Yay, TwinLug had a setup, I'm thinking about joining, I just have to ask Garth what the minimum age is, if there is one, and also meeting days and times, there I go againg, blabbing on about myself... I wish I could've seen the Sterling's layout, it looks amazing! ~T
Dont worry Chris i can spell your name but NO ONE can spell my last name B-A-N-U-E-L-O-S yeah they got my records mixed up i didnt "Exsist" in school for about 4 days yeah And Anyone would bow down to Sean right? Anyways nice job Phippy-Aaron
