The Roderik Project
Building the Roderik, one brick at a time.
About this creation
Inspired by Leonard Hoffman's Kalashnikov Project (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/948?r=1987378154), I decided to build a large ship of my own and record each step of the building process. More photos will be added as construction progresses.

The basic floorplan of the Roderik.

From right to left: Nonexistent engine room, science research room, airlock (not visible), tables, bunks, empty bridge.

The yellow strip is the beginning of the airlock. Yes, those are castle walls in there.

   Experimenting with the hull.

The ship's hull pattern begins to evolve...

   Boy, do I love SNOT!

The second bunks have been added, yet the bridge remains undeveloped.

A few more knick-knaks added to the science room.

My airlock. Don't ask me why there is an airlock in the middle of the ship...I don't know how it got there... :)

   The airlock open.

Yes...a minifig CAN fit in there...

Finally, some progress for the bridge!

   Another pic of the bunks...

   The hull is progressing nicely...

The very begining of the engine room. Those tubes from Aquazone work great for fuel tanks.

   Building more on the hull.

The other side of the ship.

A bird-eye view of the ship. I'm not quite satified with the rainbow of colors.

More stuff is added to the engine room.

The back of the ship with the proto-engine. Man, they are ugly!

Ohhh...the pain! The back section of the Roderik's hull look way to flat, so I destroyed a good part of the back to add...

   ...these SNOTy vents.

Another shot of the engine room and all-to-blue science room.

The vents with the flaps on.

Here's a bird-eye view of the new SNOT engines.

   A better angle.

Never quite happy with the color of the science room, I punched out the floor and converted all the blue to gray.

How did THAT get in there!?!?!?!

   The new science room.

The bridge from the outside uses even more SNOT.

The inside of the ship is now mostly gray.

   The ship from behind.

The boarding ramp from the bottom.

*sigh* I had to rip up the bridge to be able to put the ramp in.

Easily enough room for a minifig!

   The REALLY pathetic landing gear.

THE SHIP IS COMPLETE!! Detailed pics soon!
