An old cinema and theater building in Tromsų

About this creation

This is my fourth model of an building from my home town. The first was the cinema (Fokus kino) that was built in the sixties, it has a realy special roof that I wondered if it was possible to build in LEGO. And aparently everything is possible with LEGO :D

The second was the Arctic Cathedral, and the third was Polaria. And then I was hooked on this type of LEGO creations. :)

This fourth building was done with more attentions to details. I got lots of inspirations from other LEGO builders both here on MOCpages but also Brickshelf. Especially was models built by Matija Puzar a good inspiration when I built this.
I did as he did, startet out with an rough scetch on MLCad for finding the right techique for the fasade and also a rough estimate for number of bricks I needed to purchase.

Part of this model was first at display on LEGO World Norway 2008. And then I completed the building by adding a few details on the front part and added the actual cinema hall.

It is equipped with a 7" LCD screen with built in speakers. The only non-LEGO part. The screen supported movies. So when the building was on display at the Tromsų International Film Festival 2009, the cinema display was running a few movies made with LEGO. One of them was the great Men O'War movie that also can be found on YouTube.

Two of ten paintings that I have done so far. I did not have good enough camera equipment so I used a lot of time making just those two. But now I have a better camera and will make a new attempt on those two and then try continuing on the rest.

Quoting Steffen Rau Great! This is very impressive! My favorite parts are the paintings. Did you integrate the built scenes in the cinema or images of the LEGO scenes?

I made the paintings by first making a LEGO model of the painting then photographing the LEGO model and downscaled the photo so it would fit the frame. Printet it out on paper with doublesided tape on the back and put it on the wall. I tried making it in real bricks but there was too much details in the paintings that I could not get into that small space.
