In response to Bohdan: $2000 does not seem excessive for this work - in fact its rather low. Assuming those are 1x1 tiles, covering 15 48x48 stud baseplates.... At an expected cost of 3 cents per tile (rough estimate based on Bricklink), the 34,560 tiles would cost $1036.80. That's not counting shipping, or the cost of the plates, or the time spent building (time is money!). Beyond that, even relatively unknown artists can charge this much or more for work of this size and quality. I have sold much smaller pieces (painting and sculpture, not Lego) for a few hundred dollars and I am pretty much as unknown as it gets in the art world. |
