About this creation

a close up of the engine. it is fully detailed. it features an oil pan, oil filter, cam pulley, alternator, distributor, cylinder heads, intake manifold, air filter and a carburetor with throttle linkage, and water pump

here is the 4 speed gearbox

this is the independent rear suspenison

and the front suspension

Here are the chassis components for my 1/8 scale 1965 Shelby 427 cobra. From now on, I will ad another step to my works in progress, the chassis parts. I get a lot of questions about my suspensions and gear boxes, so I will now be posting those parts as well. These components are modular in design. they can also be configured for front, rear or all wheel drive. This is done by simply by installing a differential and input shaft, as the suspension is designed to be all wheel drive. any other configuration can be achieved by adding or removing differentials. With AWD however, a white clutch gear must be used at either end to take the place of the center differential. I have found this to be just as effective and much easier ehn building a small vehicle where the chassis must remain compact.

Hello I'm interesting about your 4speed gearbox, can you send meg build instructions? Thanks Zoli

Hi Tyler, I copied your gearbox and Paul Boratko realized that there is an error, the second and third gear are exactly equal, the second is straight from the engine to the wheels and the third gear passes through the 20 teeth for the 12 teeth gear , and the other side around the 12 teeth gear to the 20 teeth therefore goes straight to the wheels. ;)

Hello, I am currently working on a supercar, and I need to make a four-speed transmission. I absolutely love your design, and i think it would work perfectly in my car. I have seen your pics you posted above, but they just arent quite enough for me to build by the pictures. I see the general design, but not the exact gearing of the end with the two 8-tooth gears. It would really help if you could send me some brief pictures of the elements of this transmission, especially from all sides and agles. Please contact me soon, i hope to finish my project soon, -88high Brickshelf.88high@gmail.com Youtube User: Mr88high

Very good, but you have to improve the gear selector mechanism- when the gear selector is on maximum position on left it doesn't move driving ring. Everything else is good. 4,5/5

Quoting Rafael Quintal Very good looking components. I especially like the engine. Can you tell me, is the gearbox 3+R type, or simply 4 forward speeds?
four forward speeds

Quoting Ryan Link Great techniques here. I'm wondering where you got the drive rings...I don't think I've seen these parts before, but it looks like they would make a gearbox much simpler. Any idea where I might find some of these?
there is one in the cherry picker and two in the red excavator that are red. the gray ones I have came from the extreme offroader from 2002 and the super street sensation. you can also get them from bricklink.com

Quoting Conner C I can't quite figure out the transmission. on the same axle you have a 16 tooth selector gear and a 12 tooth gear. Then on another, you have a 16 tooth selector and a 24 tooth gear. these are running together. I'm confused how this works, because for two axles to run together smoothly you need the same ratios for all gears between them. This pair of axles has a ratio of 2 and a ratio of 1.... care to explain? other than that, i am utterly amazed at your work. Unparalleled stuff. Great job!
the 16 tooth selector gears dont have an axle slot in the middle, they have a smooth hole. If no drive ring is engaged those gears dont turn. When you select a gear, you engage the ratio for that gear. The only way the gearbox wont spin is if you engage both drive rings. If you have the parts, build one and study how it functions, That will help a lot

Beautiful ! Great component. I understand why your rear or front axle have suspension and differential and with a small width :you use new Suspensions steerig links, wich in 6L. The older are in 6,5L so you economize 1L with this tecnique. I don't have one, so I am embarrasing. Good job tyle !

Love your work man, some of the best on MOCpages. I tried to rebuild your tranny, though, and can't figure out how it is a 4-speed. Without changing the gear sizes, I can only get 3 speeds out of it.

Quoting Ape Fight This are superb, so well designed using as few pieces as possible, I doubt LEGO themselves could do a better job! Your mechanical knowledge is fantastic, absolutely a 10/10
thanks. Those are actually the parts that are in use in my cobra
