About this creation
B735-PT
The Panther
The Pimm Industries B735-PT is produced by the company's heavy vehicle division. This particular vehicle is assigned to the Highlands Battalion (formerly Highlands Company).
Specification:
Weight: 81,647kg (90 tons)
Engines: Turbine powered by fuel cell technology X4, one in each track unit.
Crew: 2
Main Weapon:
1) 4X 75mm autocannons, turrent mount
2) 2X Large Lasers; front track mount
Secondary Weapons:
1) 4-Round short range missile array (SRM) – turret mount
2) 2X 4-Round SRM - rear track mount, rear facing
Armour:
Undisclosed. Laminate design with experimental energy
absorption properties. Double thickness, light weight.
Classification:
Heavy, tracked, ground, medium-range assault tank.
The B735-PT, fondly called ‘The Panther’ by those that love her best, was designed as a support vehicle for the extreme long range B640-RG . As the B640-RG was poorly equipped to deal with multiple enemy tanks at close range.
However, it quickly found a role going up against other tanks in an offensive role, and because of its heavy armour and ability to lay down heavy fire in short order – it became a favourite for attacking mechs as well. Despite its weight, it is fast and mobile thanks to the four track design each of which houses it’s own turbine engine.
The mech pilots often call it the ankle biter for its ability to pivot around one of it’s front tracks while it lays down fire on the legs of enemy mechs.
Up until now Pimm Industries has been lacking in mech technology. However, thanks to an agreement made with The Dawn Forge we have licensed their mech joint design, and will be fielding a heavy mech in the near future.
As a note, I met Mr. Kescenovitz at BrickWorld and he kindly took apart one of his mechs to show me the joint design. Despite his 12’ tall frame and mass approaching a ton, he is very nice and easy to talk to. He also appears to be freaky smart and has the soul of an artist. Brian was one of the many great people I had the opportunity to hang-out with down in Chicago.
There are many elements on this tank that were gleaned from Brians Mark II - ASCENSION Class Artillery Mech.
To further extend credit for inspiration for this build, I also spent a fair amount of time studying Mark Kelso’s Dawn Forgery. I had a great time meeting Mr. Kelso at BrickWorld, hanging out, and shooting the crap – bright man. I will get back to Mark in a separate post regarding the Darwin Awards.
I also had the chance to meet Dan Siskind , whose instructions for a WWII German Panther became the catalyst for this offshoot of my normal building genre. Although, my tanks have deviated greatly from this beginning, I still use his boogie design on most of my tanks.
I did meet a good number of other people while in Chicago, but I will cover that in a later post (Chris, Dennis, Stacy, Dave, Heather, Nannan, Alex, Mat, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks for viewing and reviewing.
Check out Bricklink for all the parts you need, and didn’t know you needed until you saw them.
And because I get asked so many times about this part in particular Technic, Link Tread .

another great moc from (the) man. i think that i know where you got the idea for this tank from. the landkreuzer p.1000 ratte.
Actually, I started with a picture of the tank from Halo (Scorpion), and wandered off on some strange tangent from there. |

excellent job! that turret is awesome. personally, I would have put maybe a smaller turret on the back, just to balance it out a bit. the back half is a little bit 'open'. of course, this thing totally obliterates anything I've ever built, and all around, it's really good. great build! Thanks. Ya I tried to put a smaller turret at the back to make it look like a tail, but it didn't work out. Went for the less is more instead.

Ahh, now here is a man who understands the brutal grace inherent in a clean, angular design. Well played, sir, and many thanks for the kind wordsit was great to finally meet you. For those who have not yet had the pleasure, Lee was easily one of the most likable and charismatic people at Brickworld. Just ask Heather, who fell completely under the spell of his hypnotic Canadian wordplay. Im already looking forward to next year, and I cant wait to see the new mech. Lethal, downright lethal. Great greebling, and I really like how you've kept to your basic overall look (and I'm not talking about the black and trans red here). Your enemies will tremble when you crash across the border . . . oh wait, that'd be MY country you're invading!

not sure what you mean, I'd say that you could build the suspension inside the tracks, that wouldn't use up any further space. it's just that the fender is 6 studs wide - in the front and rear - that's why I feel that there is something missing, but don't get me wrong, it's still an awesome tank ;)
The track takes up two studs, the boogie system takes up one stud, then the attachment for the track is two studs. It isn't actually a fender - it is a whole separate pod that pivots on an axis against the body of the tank. The extra stud on the outside is the support for the gun on the front, and the greebling on the back. Your suggestion would require major surgery, and would completely change the design of the tank's track pods. I have the advantage of being able to see underneath, as well as knowing how it is designed. Unfortunately, you only have a few pics to look at, which may make your idea (which I agree could look cool) seem like it would be easy. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Amazing as always, Lee. I have a question, though: do the dreads roll, or are they just for show?
At the moment the body is supported by a couple of 2x4 bricks so the track pods don't sag over time; but yes, they do roll.

IT reminds me of the scorpion from the halo series and that makes me happy.
That was what I started with as my inspiration, then went from there.
Quoting Space Pirate
not the best tank that I have seen, but fairly good! I think the front view would look better with a second tank track next to the other...so that each track would be 6 studs wide, you know...a double track ;)
Then each track pod would have to be at least a 1/3 wider and it would change the look of the tank. IE it wouldn't be the one I designed. Maybe for a future tank, but I think it would just be easier to use the bigger technic links IMO. |

That sounds like a great idea - maybe I will incorporate that into a future design.

Wow! Very sleek and cool design. Looks really menacing. Looks rather large for a two-seater though. What is all the other space for?
Armour, ammo, and electronics. Although, it looks large (and it is overall) the centre area housing the operators is fairly narrow at only about 4-studs wide of open space |
