Here we see some Elite Psychics practice some telekynesis and levitation.
Altough very unstable at first (emotional outbursts are lethal for a newborn Psi-Op), after a year or so the Core Cells in the body stabilize, greatly reducing the risk.
Here we see some practice with Plasma Bursts and Barriers.
Plasma flares and Telekynesis are basic skills common to all operatives, as well as a limited form of telepathy (I have no idea about how to make it show in LEGO).
-BOOM!- Some Operatives never develop special skills, but they are usually those who can develop the greatest firepower, Like Cmdr Yue.
Others develop very specific skills, and are employed in missions accordingly.
As an example, Cmdr Likely is a powerful Technopath, he can manipulate technology with his mind.
He is sometimes employed on the battlefield to repair damaged technogy, but his greatest value is in hacking networks, or taking control over enemy vehicles.
He also provides cheap drones for his comrades' training :)
Cmdr Konrad's specialty is differnt: he is a Criokynetic.
He can slow down molecular movement to chill and freeze whatever he concentrates upon.
Scientists speculate that practice in freezing objects will lead him to time control eventually, so he is rarely employed on the battlefield.
Although Psi-Ops are awesome team leaders, only a handful of them makes it through their first year, making them still an unreliable resource, the handful stable "Elites" are highly priced.
I hope you had fun in watching this as much as I had in making it. I loved trying to render the psychic powers in lego.
I may make more in the future, even if this was only intended as an introduction to the PM-01 Indra Psi-Mech.
Comments and pointers are welcome and will help me build better vigs :)
I think this would work in the contest. Will G was the one who started it, so I don't know if he's cool with it, but I haven't heard from him in a long time. if he doesn't give you an answer by the 13th, then I'll count this as a legit entry. (P.S. nice job!)
Nice work Yuri, imaginative use of parts and cool effects again.
To answer your question re: space pirates, I can't post a link to Flickr here (i'm at work right now) but search for the Space Pirate group over there that i'm part of. There are hundreds of photos from lots of contributors with different styles and it shows that there is no set style. Popular motifs seem to be trans-green parts and weapons, non-human fig heads (star wars is a goldmine for these), mixing up space parts with armour and melee weapons. Thanks for thinking of my MOC for inspiration, it's very flattering!
Now THAT is just REALLY creative. I love it! Ok, time for the cut and paste part of this comment... You have signed up for the 2009 MocOlympics. Please email me with your name written in the body of the email and that you're ready to compete at firstname.lastname@example.org. I need your email as your "placement number" for the games. Thanks ~ Chris.
