Phoenix
An attack helicopter meant for ground support.
About this creation
When hoverpads can't support a vehicle at a certain height, the Sar used older technology to push off of the air instead of the ground. It's primarily used for ground support because of it's manueverability and stamina against other low flying units.

Streamlined for effective speed. The heavy front helps with momentum.

The engines rotate to allow the front to turn.

The small wing near the rear engine allows the rear of the Phoenix to turn. With both front and back turning enabled, it can turn on a dime. It can also lean forward and back.

Two forward facing, elevating machine guns allow the Phoenix to lean forward or back and still fire at it's target.

The missiles are tucked up and under the hull in a revolver style lock to protect it from being fired upon. When the pilot wants to fire, a missile slides down and locks into the position in the picture. Then it can unlock it's claws and activate it's thrusters to fly into a target.

The controls are similar to a tank's. The pilot sticks his hands on the yellow pads and slides them in the direction he wants to lean. If he slides his right hand forward, and his left back, the ship will turn left.

very nice, as usual. Your controls are unique. But I have a question. Is this ship able to carry troops or supplies? If not, It's too big for a simple fighter.

Good job, Artyr. I like the shape. It's not a particularly attractive ship, but the technology appears rather old (which is what you intended, right?). Looks like it would serve its purpose admirably. My only fuss is the use of the name "phoenix." Looks more like some kind of fish to me. :-P

I remember a WIP pic of this from a LLOONNGG time ago! I like it though, a cool VTOL ship like that, along with cool colors...I really like how you wedges the wheels in the tires too...the only downside is the bottom, but still. Awesome.

I didn't think you could do anything interesting with those Rock Raider pieces. Great work! (ps, I think the engines could be canged to someting more square and industrial-looking, but it's fine the way it is.)
