1UP Mushroom, Super Mario Brothers: The Lost Levels Style
Bah-dah-dah-dum-de-dah-dah-duh!
About this creation

Eh, if I have a Super Mario Brothers 1UP Mushroom and Super/Magic Mushroom, why not make a LEGO Mosaic of a SMB2J 1UP Mushroom, too? I mean, as far as I know, no one has ever made those things in LEGO form now, have they? Anyway, as with the other creations, please let me know what you think of this one, okay? Thank you.

Update: I just realized that I don't have a Super/Magic Mushroom mosaic from this game but I'm going to add one once my collection of LEGO has been transferred from Tennessee to Nevada. As a bonus, I'm going to also add in the Poison Mushrooms once I get some more brown, tan, light blue, dark blue, and blue-green LEGO 1x1 pieces.

Quoting Ben Pitchford gotta love the mario mushroom
Yes, I do love it even though it's also different from the ones that were in SMB, SMB Special, and VS. SMB. Sadly, I never did get around to making that Super Mushroom that I had promised to people, let alone the Poison Mushrooms or alternate 1UP Mushroom, Ben. The reasons for that are because some of the pieces ended up missing thanks to some jerks that stole part of my LEGO collection, I moved to Minnesota, and that my digital camera died, so it's been kind of rough on me, and especially when I don't have Alice Finch-sized amounts of money to just throw at LEGO. Finally, I will say this only once and that is Brickpick and other similar websites are WAY too much of a con and the prices are WAY too much for individual parts, and ditto for eBay, and that the ONLY sources that I will trust for getting my LEGO are Craigslist, donations of LEGO (but getting THOSE things to happen are slim to none), bartering for other services, bartering for other goods, flea markets, yard sales, garage sales, swap meets, and the like. Anything else is just a con, period. The bigger the haul (not to mention the heaper the haul), the better that it is for myself.

Quoting Anina . Reminds me of the good ole' days.. Awesome mosaic.
Thanks. Sadly, I never got to play the game in its original format, so I had to rely on a ROM and images from YouTube and from some video game map website, Anina. Thankfully, I think that I got it right. I know that it was on the Wii Virtual Console but I don't have a Wii, nor do I have the money to buy one at this time, as there are far more important things that the money needs to go to, let alone even thinking about adding more LEGO to my LEGO collection.

Quoting Jon Treasure Sweet! I love it! I've never seen anyone build anything like this! Very unique!
Thanks, Jon and that was the very reason why this MOC was built.

Quoting Joshua Benjamin Interesting sculpture of a commonly found marion element. And btw, if you get a flourescent lamp, and position it off to the side of your photo area, then you won't have to use your flash, and your photos will look much better =).
Yes, that would certainly help, Joshua, but another thing that would help is to get this special kind of box made called a light box. Another MOC Pages user set instructions on how to build one; however, I unfortunately lost the ID of that particular member but at least I was wise enough to save the link from the website, so at least it's still within easy access to me. If I can recall the link, then I'll probably be visiting some stores in the future and then build things like this once again when I get my new jobs going and save up some money after a while or, better yet, hope to work for The LEGO Group and build my collection up that way (and through the occasional flea market, swap meet, garage sale, or Craigslist posting).

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Nice mosaic. Love the mario games. I have seen similar creations but not quite like this - great job. Thanks for your comment on my Corvette. Unfortunately I cant make those modifcations but I might make another in the future.
Thanks for the kind words, MortalSwordsman. I honestly didn't see anyone build things like this in the way that I did on here (or on places like YouTube for that matter), so it was a real trial-and-error process. Ironically, Mario Paint and similar painting programs were the inspiration to make this particular MOC as well as lots of graph paper and colored pencils. Trust me, they help out IMMENSELY with builds like this one.

Quoting Scott Aldridge Nice!!! I thought about doing a Luigi sprite, but probably haven't got the pieces. Thanks for adding me as one of your fave builders!!!
Welcome, Scott, and here is a way that you can build your own Luigi sprite, too. 1. Get a picture of Luigi from an image of Super Mario Brothers, Versus Super Mario Brothers, SMB2J, or All Night Nippon Super Mario Brothers from the internet. 2. Save the picture to your computer. 3. Use your Mario Paint program and rebuild him in a stamp form. For using it on the PC/Mac painting programs like Paintbrush, Paint, MS Paint, etc., simply take the image on the computer, make sure that you have zoomed in on the maximum setting, turn on your grid, and work from there. Alternatively, should you not possess a copy of Mario Paint for the SNES, Super Famicom, or Wii Virtual Console, or any paint programs for your computer, you can always go the El Cheapo route and get some graph paper and some colored pencils and draw it on there. 4. Now regardless of what method that you are using, simply get yourself about 4 8x16 LEGO Brick bases (those giant bricks that look like a LEGO Brick version of a 8x16 Base Plate), about 80 2x4 LEGO Bricks, preferably blue ones, and then make sure that you have lots of 1x1 green, orange, and white LEGO Bricks. I am not sure exactly how many of them will be used for each color so you will need about 550 to 600 LEGO Bricks to get the job done if you plan on building a Luigi from that many LEGO Bricks. I hope that helps you out a bit, Scott.

Sure, I'd love the invite, Green Ghost, and, truth be told, I'd also like to have some more inspiration for further sprite work concepts on my MOC Pages site. Thank you.

Quoting Crimso Giger Making a totally different style of MOC is always interesting. Nice mosaic !
Thanks, Crismo, and being different is exactly the kind of thing that I was going for with these MOCs. Sadly, due to financial limits, I can not invest hundreds of dollars per week in SHIP-sized amounts of LEGO and that means, sadly, that there will be no Bloober or Bowser or even Princess Peach for quite some time.

Well, Kylo, to answer your question, yes, I did build the 1UP Mushroom with 35 white, 82 yellow, and 63 green 1x1 LEGO Bricks. However, to support all of those 1x1 bricks, I also used 32 2x4 blue LEGO Bricks and 2 green 8x16 LEGO Base Bricks to give it more three dimensional and stand alone capabilities. I hope that answers your question.

Well, Cody G, to answer your question, it all depends on when I can get moved into my new apartment and when my mother can send my LEGO collection from Tennessee to Nevada (which is now where I am living). Also, I have to take into consideration the fact that I will be learning at least two new jobs (and possibly a third one if I can get things right) in the near future, so between all of that and my mad video game skills, I am not quite sure just exactly when I will be able to get back to making more LEGO art...:(

"Ba ba ba de ba ba baaaa!" I love Mario. And is it me, or did you make it using only 1x1 bricks? And I made some Super Mario 2D style mocs a while back. Did SMB1 and SMB2.
