The first version, in actual lego is very playable and poseable. The stability is affected by the heavy weight of the wings and backpack. This is somewhat inevitable though with lego. In certain poses, such as aerial poses, it would need a stand to hold the poses. The other problem is that many of the joints I'd used were worn out by this point, so having newer joints would also help improve the stability. The second version (LDD--would be very poseable, but may not be realistic in real life. I'm working (slowly) on a third version that is a bit smaller, and will fix any issues with the 2nd version while adding some new features. Stay tuned!

I can see how this is your most popular MOC. It is an amazing work of art. I do have a question for you: How is the playability with it? Is it stable enough or does it need to be supported while in certain poses?

Hi Brandon--this is definitely one of my favorite models, and I hope to actually make it one of these days. I also tried to download the LDD file, but it wouldn't find it for me either. I may have to re-upload it. MOCpages went through a bit of a revamping a while ago, and some things got a wee bit messed up I think.

This is an epic gundam i own the perfect grade version and the detail compared to that is stunning. heres my only problem i went to get the LDD file and it says file not found other than that this is a brilliant model

The two misplaced bricks are probably part of the end of the rifle. There are probably a whole lot of bricks that can't be purchased in Lego Universe. Your best bet would be to go to Bricklink to find them. Speaking of which, there is a program out there called Brickhelper that can generate a parts list from a .lxf file and then also create links to the appropriate part in the bricklink.com catalog. I hope that helps.

Hey, first off I wanted to say that this is an awesome looking Gundam. Ok, onto my problem. I loaded the .lxf file on LDD and it said that there were 2 misplaced bricks and bricks that cannot be purchased on Lego Universe. Is there a way for you to generate a complete list of all the parts I would need to build it?

Version 1 was imperfect. I was trying to replicate the plastic model they have of this gundam, but I didn't quite get all the details right. With Version 2, I was able to get everything just the way I wanted it to be.

Thanks for all the compliments. To be fair, they have really improved the pieces needed to make mecha in the last 10 years or so. Before that, it wouldn't have been possible to make a lot of the things that are being done now.

You've got a keen eye. Yeah, I didn't spend as much time on the head as I could have. Gundam faces are nearly impossible to re-create on a small scale. Each small gundam head I've seen has had its strengths and weaknesses.

Legs, body, torso, arms, weapons, its all good. Looks just like it, and the wings rock. then we get to the head. my only problem with it is that there appears to be one eye. overall, awesome

Great work, for creating a Gundam from Gundam SEED never an easy task with those massive weapons and packages and all those gimmicks...a greating challenge with Lego's weight, a very solid test to the builder's skills. And frankly I'm quite sympathy towards those SEED Gundams for their burden :) Anyway great work, expecting your next Gundam rollout.

Thanks, man! Its from Gundam SEED, but your observation is keen. The Freedom Gundam's design was borrowed heavily from both the GX-9900 Gundam X and the GX-9901 Double X, actually. Thanks for involving me in the spinning top contest!

I never saw this Gundam, but it reminds me closely of my favourite Gundam ever: the GX-9901-DX Gundam Double X. Extraordinary.

I've bought a lot of exo force, mars mission, a couple of bionicle sets, a bunch of agents and a few others, but most of my most useful mech tech came from exo-force. They have lots of ratchet and ball joints. In particular, the golden guardian, aero booster and the one with the lightning sword had lots of great stuff!

i'm in awe. until i stumbled onto your page the other day i didnt think such incredible things could be made with legos! as a HUGE mecha and lego fan, i have to say you've inspired me to restart my collection from scratch. rest assured that as soon as i have the pieces, i'm going to start making posable mechs. aside from exo force, what other series would you suggest to make mecha like these?

Whoa! You've been busy! I made a METEOR system for my first version of the Freedom (version 1 was about half the size of this one). But it wasn't very good. The problem with making the METEOR system is that it dwarfs the Freedom! There's a reason they could only release the model of it in a 1/144 scale as opposed to 1/100 or 1/60 scale. It would have just been too big!

Oh yeah! And the zgmf-x20a strike freedom minifig master grade scale.WOOT!

It had almost every theme Gundam from each show, but with updated animation. If the old ones had that good of animation back then, they would have been a lot better, I think.

Ah, I see you're a lego Freedom Gundam virgin still ;) I hadn't really seen anyone make an accurate model of this one, so I decided to try my hand at it. I think this about my fourth or fifth attempt over the last couple of years (you don't even want to know how the other ones turned out, trust me--it was bad) So, yeah, I'm pretty happy with it.
