In 1940 the Russian T-34, wich was dominating battlefeilds on the Eastern front, confirmed the Wermchats need for a heavy tank. Therefore Panzer VI Tiger was designed in 1941 and began production in 1942. Althoug it did not share the the T-34 sloping armor its 3.9 inches of solid steel could withstand most shells. Its gun was based on the legendary 88mm AA/AT gun. Yet these proved to also be a weakness, as new tactics had to be developed for the 60 ton monster. This coupled with mechanical problems from the hasty development meant the Tiger struggled in its early days. Once these were fixed however Tiger was a name to be feared. Once in 1944 a single Tiger destroyed 25 enemy tanks, holding up an entire Allied division before being destroyed. Production stoped in 1944 with only 1,350 (give or take) built, not many considering the Tiger's legendary reputation. This is my first WWII Tank and I only have a few regrets. The hatches lead no where and the gun cant elevate. Also there are no running gear or treads (I dont have enough links) but I plan to fix that soon. Nice work on the turret, altough you could do this: Make the barrel thinner, its too fat like that, it needs more 2x2 rounds instead of that big 4x4 cone. Try making it studless, trust me, it looks A LOT better. I don't blame you for the studs, since lack of parts is suffered by mostly everyone (even me) BTW I replied t your comment on my Diorama, and can you please rate it by the way? |

I made an educated guess at the political veiws of the Kreigsmarine. I certainly meant no offense and was only commenting based on what I knew. When I commented I was speaking to the best of my knowledge. I will edit my comment. Oh and by the way I never knew that fact about the Bismarck's captian, it is rather interesting! THX =) |

See, you have to understand that not every single German was a Nazi. Of all the branches of their military, the Kriegmarine was certainly the least Nazi. They sometimes even allowed Jews in! Also, they spent long periods of time at sea, which meant less time for being brainwashed by propoganda and such. Matter of fact, the captain of the Bismarck was known to be a Jew and an anti-Nazi. The U-boat crews had a horrible time at sea, which made them wish that the war would just end. Few had willingly entered service, anyway. That is not to say that there were no Nazis aboard the U-boats. But the greater portion of them were just ordinary men, who didn't want to fight. Now, please, I beg of you, read some history books before commenting again. |
