A comedic mash-up between 300, Star Wars, and Zombies as my entry to the CABG Quarantine Contest. Features 'Shock' Troopers (Spartans) holding off against infected civilians (Xerxes Army) and Commander Thire (Leonidas) spartan kicking Jar-Jar (Persian) off the building. Yes, another Jar-Jar death inducing moc.
About this creation
This is my entry to the July 2009 Quarantine Contest on CABG. The challenge was to build on a 16x16 baseplate with limited to no overhang, and to include Phase II Troops dying, holding off, or fighting infected citizens in the streets of Coruscant. My entry is a mash-up parody between 300, Star Wars, Zombies, and various smaller themes. The title 500 Republica is a play on words with the movie title 300, and is based of the real building in Coruscant. The top level has Commander Thire (Leonidas) spartan kicking Jar-Jar (Persian Messenger) off the other side of a balcony, while down at street level some real 'Shock' Troopers (Spartan Soldiers) make their final stand against infected citizens (Xerxes Soldiers).
Also my camera broke, so I will be using my sister's for awhile. It produces this strange dirty tan light tint that not even the magic of photoshop can fix. :/
(It is highly recommended you watch the 3 minute clip of the 'This is Sparta' scene before you read the 4 parody scenes below: click to watch)
"Pleasa Commander Thire. Meesa think theresa cure for the infected over in da swamps. Meesa know how clumsy and dumbdumb meesa been in da past, but dis time meesa promise notsa get into doodoo! All meesa need issa gets back into da buildin and speaks with da Naboo royalty about the infected and deadly!"
"Let you back in? That's going to be a negative Jar Jar. My intel says that Padme has already refused to see you, and if that Senator, that angel, has turned you down-"
"Sir if he shows no signs of infection we must process-"
"And of course the City Guard here have their orders to follow."
"Choosa your next orders wisely Thire, theysa could be the last before da infected gets inside!"
"Ouchie! What yousa doing?!"
"Infected and deadly... you'll find plenty of them down there at street level."
"Pleasa! Meesa swear meesa not infected!"
"You bring this virus and the infected to the doors of my building, you endanger my Chancellor, you threaten other senators and royalty with disease and death! Oh I've given my orders Gungan, perhaps you should've listened and never have brought this virus to the Galactic Capital!"
"Oh no! Da Galactic Capital!? Meesa swore weesa still on Naboo!"
"Naboo? You moron... THIS IS CORUSCANT! "

The 'Shock' Troopers (Spartans), also known as the Coruscant Guard, make their final stand against the infected citizens (Xerxes Soldiers) at a street level entrance into 500 Republica.
I love these little shockies!
In 300, there is a lot of movement (and gore) when soldiers are being bashed, sliced, thrown, and kicked around- which made it oh so more epic. I tried to add a lot of movement into this creation while trying to keep the support beams clean and hidden.
CT-4412 thoroughly enjoys wasting an infected civilian while ignoring the uncoming onslaught of other infected.
Ithorians don't deal with electricity that well. This lovely and ingenious design gets credited to Moko.
Another shot of Jar-Jar getting spartan kicked.

Phrik wielding heros!
It's hard to see with the poor lighting and photography (which I apologize for one again) but the colors of 500 Republica are dark blue and shades of grey. I was fairly pleased with the front entrance.
Side shot showing the change in elevation leading up to the door.
Front shot of the building.
I'm a firm believer in trying to fit everything into a predetermined space (16x16 in this case) and not having any overhang. In my extremist case, I believe the small studs sticking out here in back is illegal. However I'm not a good enough builder to provide a solution to this problem (completely)... yet.
Thire and his true Shock Troops.
I had a lot of fun building these guys. I threw in a lot of minor allusions to other themes and characters with them. How many can you spot?
