yesterday i came across Alex Eylar's Obedientbot. i thought it was completely amazing. so, i thought i would try building a robot using the same emotional and mysterious idea. as a result, Archie and Phil were born. Archie and Phil are two very old construction robots. after years upon years of construction work they are finally falling into disrepair and are slowly falling apart. Archie is a 100' tall framing robot(the moc isn't actually 100' tall, it's only 12")that has been in service for over 135 years. since then the company that built Archie has gone out of business and the parts needed to repair him are no longer available. Archie's best friend and colleague, Phil is a newer robot that was purchased by the company to do the riveting that used to be done by human workers. Phil has only been working for the company for 58 years but like Archie the parts to repair Phil are unavailable, so he is also falling into disrepair. i really enjoyed building these guys, so i will be building more robots based on the same idea as these two. PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!
About this creation
here is a shot of Archie's head. one of his eyes has gone out and his paint is worn.
here is Archie's chest. The green light on his chest changes colour, depending on how much battery power he has left. it goes from green,to yellow, and then to red. after the light goes red, it goes out and Archie shuts down.
this is Archie's left hand. it was used at one time for carrying beams. this hand also has a welding rod built into it, so he can weld the beams in place after he places them in the correct place.
this is Archie's right hand. it has two steel-cutting saws built into it, for cutting the steel beams to the correct size.
here is Archie's legs. they had plating on them at one time but the harsh conditions of the construction site have broken it all off.
here is a shot of Archie's back. you can see the battery pack that must be charged every day.
here is Archie's friend Phil. he is a riveter bot. here you can see the two riveting guns on his arms.
and here is a back view of Phil.
