This is the mini version of my Longsword. It will be built to a mini scale not mini-figure but i am designing it to fit a figure in the cockpit. Note that a real minifigure scale version would be at least 4 feet wide and I do not have time for that. I truly believe this to be a smaller version of a Halo 1-2 type. If you stand Master Chief on the crashed ship, he looks like he could barely fit in the cockpit side door, unlike the Halo 1-2 description that it had halls and room for him and marines to float around in when they lost gravity in one of the books.
About this creation
Equipped with details such as orientation lights on wings and tail, grill vents for engine air intake, retractable landing gear and ramp, moveable bomb bays and ventral guns as well as the forward cannons, I tried to get everything as close as possible. Comments will be appreciated as I will try to make whatever changes I can to make it closer to the game design.

Depending on how well this one works out I may even add a ShortSword from Halo Wars to scale with this mini. They are pretty much the same size as the halo 3 longsword but thinner wings. Also for anyone who might complain it is not the halo 1 and 2 style, who cares, that one is WAY to big to be a fighter, more a bomber. Using computer scales the Halo 1-2 is actually even bigger than the Halo 3 design (about 1-2 wraiths wider and longer) which is too big to even do a mini. look at my wraith and imagine about 9 of them lined up! So I'll stick with the Halo 3 style.
And here is some info on this bad boy from Halopedia:
The cockpit design stayed the same between Halo and Halo 2 but changed in Halo 3, previously the cockpit had four windows (two on each side, but none in the front) and a view screen. In Halo 3 the Longsword has windows wrapping around the cockpit like a traditional aircraft.
Many changes occurred from Halo 2 to Halo 3 in the aesthetics of the ship. The first version in Halo: CE and Halo 2 had the diamond-shaped intakes which were removed for the Halo 3 version, so it can be proposed that the ship in Halo 3 is a different version of the Longsword. It may be noted, however, that all of the Longswords seen in Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 are used in space combat, while those seen in Halo 3 are primarily used in an atmospheric fighter-bomber role.
Based on the number of differences of the Longsword from Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, compared to Halo 3 (such as cockpit design, different engine cowlings, smaller fin, lack of forward engines and appears to be smaller than the previous models) it is possible that the fighter seen in Halo 3 is a different model than the one seen in the earlier games.

Not bad. Right now I'm going for a full scale H1 varient. I already have the basics of the cockpit/nose finished, now i'm just fine tuning it until my $50 of black brick shows up. I'll post some picks later if I remember. Wish me luck! |

In Halo 3 on the Ark level, it isnt a longsword.....I'm pretty sure it is a shortsword or a small scale bomber
While you may be correct, I cannot be sure. I can only go from the description given for it in Halopedia. Also the Shortsword looks completely different as I do play Halo Wars and have many screenshots as well as a model on my MOC pages for one.

All right dude, I think I have the next mock of the year, With the same program you use for every thing else. Build a perfect Pelican drop ship, Put us all to shame man, I know you can do it!!!
Well I will consider it. My final moc isn't too far away. I plan to finish my micros and then make a halo 3 scarab as the last of my Halo mocs. Gotta finish big baby. But I might for the sake of argument, make a pelican before that. We'll see. |

actually, that comes really close to minifig scale. The halo 3 longsword is much smaller than the old CE longsword. Proof via the mission "the ark" where you actually get walk around a crashed longsword. to get a minifig in, try puting 4 2x1 bricks with one stud next to each other. Pilot and Co- pilot.
Here is an idea of what i was talking about when I said a marine would fit. Build a guy like this and you should be good. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/55166 |

Well it might fit minifigures. When building it I used a computer render of a pirate officer with chest plate and a tall hat to ensure the roof would allow that much height. The width however seems to barely fit two side by side but I can easily see anyone building it to find a way. Otherwise, a single pilot should fit easily, like a standard marine minifigure with helmet and chest piece. |
