Thank you for checking out my creation! When I built the original Sith Venom I wasn't totally happy with the way the design came out. The concept was centered mainly around the engines. Everything forward of that was not as inspired and I just wanted to get the model done. But not long after it was "finished" and posted I began changing things on it. So after long last, here is the 2nd version in all it's Sith glory. Enjoy!
The first thing to change on this model was the neck. The original neck was too long and plain looking. So I shortened it and added greebles on both sides.
The second and most obvious thing to change on this ship is the cockpit. It is a totally different design from the original. The inspiration was Slave 1's spacious cockpit which offered a wide viewing field for the pursuing bounty hunter pilot.
Unlike the original, the second version keeps with the motif of the rearward tapering wedge slopes established with the engines by adding the "crest" above the cockpit and the wedges at the end of the gun turrets.
This head on view shows the very subtle space between the gunnet turret dishes and the cockpit. They cannot be flush with the windscreen or else they will scratch it when the turret rotates.
The neck was shortened by 4 studs to help balance the front with the back.
This top view offers a look at some of the dark red I added, like the stripes across the engines. Also, I beefed up the section where the neck meets rear fuselage.
The other major change besides the front section is the engines themselves. The original engines were also massive but clunky looking. So I kept the same basic design but added 3 x 3 corner slopes on the front which lengthened the engines 2 studs. I did away with the Scala pot exhaust nozzles (8 of them) in favor of 4 larger exhaust nozzles with added detail. In addition to making the engines longer I made them wider and tried to round them off better using 3 x 6 cylinders embadded halfway into the engine.
The retractable landing gear configuration is essentially the same as the original although the front gear required a lot of intense trail and error before getting it to fit and work right.
Landing gear up. One thing I'm still not happy with is the small gap underneath at the very front.
I think this top view accentuates the reinforced neck where it meets the rear fuselage.
My favorite little feature of the redesign is the tilting pilot's seat with the guns.

The rear hatch to the holding cell had one change with the addition of the dark gray "intake" piece above the aft cannon.

The last change was the retractable ramp. On the original it was only 2 studs wide. But with the use of several 1 x 6 inverted double cutout slops I was able to create a slot to fit a 4 wide ramp so that the bounty hunter can actually walk his captive up the ramp.

Great shape, with lots of interesting angles at the back. Great colour too!! I like the engines and the space for the bounty hunter's prisoner. I also like the balance between greebles and a smooth, sleek shape. Definitely worth the re-build.
As always, your smaller ships are creative, detailed and sleek, but I miss the huge spectacular stuff from you like the A-wing carrier. If you want back that "Master of Spaceships" crown Kelso took from you, your gonna need to do something BIG! :)
Excellent shape! As in version 1, I have always liked the way you utilised wing pieces to design the huge engine intakes. It's a great looking technique on this scale. The missle pods on each side are also good, the white missles complementing the red. Nice to see some stuff from you after a long break!
This is just plain great. A really nice walkthrough as well. Beside the detais and greebs I think that the overall hull shape is unique and interesting. Your use of slopes to change direction and smooth out joins is superior. I'll take one in yellow could you drop it off by next thursday. TY

Very nice upgrade, the rotating cannons/cockpit seat is a great idea. I agree that gap under the cockpit is annoying, it kinda looks like a mouth. Otherwise this is really nice looking, very composed and swooshable.
Dan, as always you have something to inspire and aww us. I like this version better than V.1, but the only thing I missed from V.1 were the two guns just above the cockpit. But the turrets that move with the pilot? That more than made up for it. Bravo, dude, as always, bravo.

I hadn't seen your first Venom until now and every change you made has been a huge improvement (despite the first one already being amazing). The new cockpit and even the motors look a lot more menacing. The details are great and I love the ramp that slides out of the back!
