I had wanted to try something in microscale, and this seemed like a cool idea. Hope Tolkien doesnt roll over in his grave. There is no uniform scale (obviously), but I tried to stay as accurate to the original drawing I could. And I couldn't resist throwing a few barrels of dwarves in the river. *grin* The first half have labels, the second half are without. I'm torn which I like better.

That is absolutely awesome! Did you make a blueprint in case anyone else wanted to re-create it at home? lol I just recently read The Hobbit in preparation for the films. I also just saw all 3 LOTR movies that were brought back to theaters for a one-time only engagement. Great job!

I actually just finished reading The Hobbit for the 2nd time, and I even wrote a poem about Smaug's attack on Lake-town. Not that I really have a right to criticize this, but your creation is REALLY out of scale!! Even so, like I said in my last post, it's not like I could match this. It's JUST SO AWESOME!!

I love it:) itīs not bad that there is no uniform skale, cause in maps important things like "beware dragons" are bigger then "here it smells a bit strangely"! Nice sharp of the mountains and awesome techniques for the dragon

Quoting Samuel Diprose Nice idea! I'm a fan of J.R.R Tolkien's works (and maps) myself, and this is a lovely representation of the landscape 'The Hobbit' is set in. Great choice in font for the signposts, it reinforces the fact that you're looking at middle earth. But where's Hobbiton? :) We need to see that next!
Hobbiton wasnt on the map I was using, but doing the Shire is one of the big motivators to tackle the big Middle Earth map from LOTR.

Quoting Jennifer Garlen Love it! The barrels are a great touch.
Thank you! The barrels arent perfect, but I just had to add the tiniest bit of action. Plus, its still one of my favorite visuals from the book.

Quoting Chris Phipson That is just AMAZINGLY cool! And it's not about being "perfectly" accurate, it's about representation and you pulled it off brilliantly! Thanks for sharing ~ Chris.
Thanks Chris! It was indeed an attempt at representation more than precision, and Im glad you enjoyed it!

Very good book, and accurate enough for me. My favorite part of the creation was the transparent over blue. It added a great water effect.
