My attempt at a mechwarrior-style mecha. They are not as easy to build as they look!
About this creation
Following the success of the second stage of their expansion plan, the Neo-Void prepared to expand further. Their goal began to grow clear; the Neo Void wanted nothing more and nothing less than conquest of the known universe. When this objective was revealed to the Neo-Void’s opponents, many of them formed an alliance, hoping to crush the Neo-Void before they could become more powerful. What followed would be several million years of pitched warfare between the two sides.
Midway through this period of time, the Neo-Void began to realize that their ageing MID mk IIIs were becoming outmatched by the enemy’s newer war machines and were poorly suited to the frequent siege conditions that they found themselves in. Once again, IMS was tasked to design a MID that was better equipped for a siege. The MID mk IV, codenamed “Excelsior” was the result of the project.
In the event of a siege, mobility would be key for the mk IV, both on the ground and in the air. To this end, the mk IV was a radical departure from its predecessors, both in terms of its structure and its capabilities. The frame of the mk IV was redesigned from the ground up, moving away from the standard humaniform type mecha that had, up to this point, dominated the battlefield. The new structure was much more robust, designed to take great punishment and still promise high mobility. The legs were moved to a reverse articulated design, reminiscent of light Void mecha that had been used during the Age of Legends. The reverse legs gave the mk IV extreme stability and agility on the ground, and wide placement of verniers and auxiliary thrusters in air and space.
The mk IV was larger than the mk III, and was meant to carry a heavier payload, better adapted to withstanding hordes of invaders. In order to sustain the massive energy demands of the mecha, the mk IV featured a much heavier thermonuclear power system, better suited to a ship of the line than a mecha.
An added benefit of the new design and the increased power was that the designers of the mk IV were finally able to implement a stable and effective full coverage energy shield on the mecha. In addition to the heavy armor that the unit was plated in, the energy shield would further increase the mk IV’s lifespan on the battlefield, letting it take hard hits and give them back in greater numbers.
Standard payload for the mk IV was much improved over its predecessors. The mecha boasted two battleship-class heavy beam cannons, two plasma cannons, and 32 short range, low yield missile launchers.
IMS finished work on the mk IV in time for it to be used during the Neo-Void’s bid to withstand the combined might of the enemy’s alliance. The mecha’s toughness of design and heavy weapons were used to turn back the enemy again and again, allowing the Neo-Void’s fleets to soak up damage and then deal a deathblow to their foes. This strategy proved its effectiveness, as over the next 10,000 years, the Neo-Void’s foes began to lose a war of attrition, and at last were weakened enough for the Void to resume the offensive.
Nearly 50 trillion MID mk IV’s were produced during the third phase of the Neo-Void’s war of conquest. Few of these are currently in use, mostly being used as guard units on backwater worlds.

In its various components--the Excelsior was really heavy, so I had to leave it like this when not taking shots, or risk damage to the various joints.

its awesome very Dawn Forgish!
I think I started out going for that sort of look at first, but seriously, I don't have the kind of skill like Brian and many others when it comes to that sort of design, so I just settled for a more sort of Mechwarrior-ish design in the end. I might attempt another one in the future.

I Think It Could Do A Tiny Bit Of Damamge When I Mean Tiny I Mean Tiny.....Jks This Is Hardcore! Great The Legs Are Fantastic
Its funny though--you're right in a way. In my timeline of mecha building, this one is actually pretty primitive, so though the weapons are huge on it, they are about the same power as ones that are a fraction of the size later on. Thanks for the feedback.

Definetly a biggie! Fine choice on the main canopy, and those legs! Massive Mecha.
Its not the biggest one of mine, but probably is the heaviest (weight-wise) I think I only have one other that could compare in weight. You like the legs? I think my idea of beauty in mecha must be way off or something...:

No kidding, trying to build a Mechwarrior-style mech can be a total pain! With every one I ever built, the weight was always an issue, especialy if you put functioning joints on it. Still this one actually looks like a mech you would see in the game.
I hope so! It didn't work out quite the way I wanted (the legs were too skinny and short), but it gets the general idea across.
