"The Takeover of Mordark" Comic Issue 5
The Victorians break through the Xarkon blockade to attend the meeting with Zegaldorph, who is having his own problems with a group of deadly assassins.
About this creation
This comic will be posted on the Nova Refuge official site very soon: http://nova.saber-scorpion.com/

For now, here it is with some additional comments for my more impatient viewers. Don't forget to leave a review!

By the way, here is a link to my Star Wars comic that looks like it's about to win second place at FBTB ;-) :

Cover ... I think this is my best cover design yet. I thought about naming this issue "fire and water" because of it, but that just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the comic.

Page 1 - There were a lot of complaints about my Xarkon Battleship when I first posted it, so I decided to excuse its sloppiness by saying that it was a very outdated and junky ship.

Page 2 - The Carcharias Submarine is by Xerxes Fett. Be sure to check it out in his MOCpages gallery.

Page 4 - The last frame on this page makes a great desktop background.

Page 5 - I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before, but most of the backgrounds used in my comics are actually photos that I took myself. This one was taken in the Western US (probably California) on one of my family vacations.

Page 7 - If you're wondering what the point of the whole "Mortor" thing was, well, it's a long story. You see, the creator of the character who said it (GreatM2) used to have an animation in his signature on my forums that featured Boromir saying "One does not simply walk into Mortor..." (you can still find the original animation if you Google it). Since Mordark sounds similar to Mordor, I've been just itching to use this quote. Think of it as an in-joke for M2 and other members of my forum.

Page 8 - My apologies to General West for doing this to his character. Hey, at least you didn't drown in the sewers after that incident in the last comic! And don't worry, you eventually escape.

Page 11 - I know my special effects aren't all that great, but they took more time and work to make than it appears, believe me.

Page 14 - I know that the assassin and bodyguard characters didn't get many lines in this segment of the comic... I try to give all of the characters a few lines and important scenes, but after the confusion it caused in the end of the last comic (a lot of people said the last battle was confusing), I decided not to do it here. I wanted to keep this battle understandable.

Page 16 - It's amazing how people are always telling me that my Mahlok species seems like a ripoff of something else, but they never name the same things. And another surprise is that The Human Torch has never been mentioned as something I "ripped off." By the way, the Mahlok species was not based on DBZ, the Human Torch, the Protoss, or anything else. They were actually based on my interpretation of the aliens in the LEGO official UFO line when I was a kid.

Page 19 - Yeah, go ahead, complain about it being too short. You guys always do. This was the third longest comic so far, by the way.

In reply to Michael Pichula: Like I said, I tried to concentrate the battle on a few main characters to keep things from getting confusing. What happened to your character was, he saved Zman from falling after Zegaldorph pushed off the railing he was holding, and then they both got away.

In reply to Daniel MacFarlane: Are you with McFarlane toys? I don't suppose we could discuss a Nova Refuge action figure series? LOL, sorry, it's just what I thought of when I saw your name...

In reply to Lucas Pozdol: Did I? Well, I thought about the similarities afterwards, but I didn't really base the Mahlok on the Protoss... they just happen to have no mouth and nose either. Like the Predator's helmet. D'oh, there's another similarity thing! Gah!

In reply to Blood Snake: Wow, first review and first "too short" comment! Congrats! ;-) I'm kidding. Thanks for the comments.

EDIT: I have now added an explanation for the "Mortark" joke... in case you didn't get it.

Wow! Great work on these comics, Scorp. THey really put my Batman Comics to shame, but I intend to fix that with the next couple issues. Keep up the good work.

The comic was great, it may have been short, but it was good. The fire affect was awsome, why you said special effects were not good, i will never know. I thought they were awsome.

"I know my special effects aren't all that great, but they took more time and work to make than it appears, believe me." I Know what you mean, You make a sett, not much work, you make characters also not much work but, when the editting begins... I actualy liked the way you did the fire, far better than mine Shadow-Blade MS Paint special effects... Another good job of the "lego Master" Justin Stebbins.
