IMS-MID-002 "Mechanized Infantry Device mk II 'Humanoid Aero Fighter'"
The counterpart to the MID mk I. It has flight capability and carries integrated weapons.
About this creation
IMS-MID-002 “Sentinel”

The MID mkII, codenamed “Sentinel” was the first mass production Mechanized Infantry Device to be used in combat by the Neo-Void. The mk II formed the core of the armoured divisions that allowed the Neo-Void to initially overwhelm their opposition and, over the course of the next thousand years, conquer the Andromeda galaxy. Never since the Age of Legends had mecha been fielded in such numbers. Against the mk II’s ground and aerospace capabilities, the Neo-Void’s enemies could simply not compete.

The mk II was built directly on the mk I’s frame, but had a more powerful reactor and heavier armor. Its propulsion system enabled the mk II to make rocket assisted leaps in ground combat, and gave it high agility in space.

The designers of the mk II had initially attempted to equip the mecha with a full coverage energy shield, but the dynamics of the machine’s locomotion made the shield unstable. As a stopgap measure, they gave the mk II a heavy shield mounted on the arm.

The “Sentinel’s” standard payload was a medium beam rifle, at the time, able to annihilate another machine of a similar class in a single hit. For close combat, the mecha featured a retractable heat blade that could even melt through heavy plating on a battleship. There are a few instances where various custom units carried different payloads, but these tended to be very rare.

With the mk II in full production, the Neo-Void used them to quickly subdue their native galaxy. For the next thousand years, the “Sentinel” would primarily function as a rear guard unit, cementing the Neo-Void’s hold on the assets they had obtained.

Nearly ten billion mk II’s were produced by various companies over the thousand years following the development of the mk I. Currently there are very few in operation, mostly custom jobs or antiques owned by militia forces in the outer territories.

Quoting Tom R. Great leg design! Very great job on this one man the design is so unique and the structure is excellent!
This one is not really based off anything in particular, so it is pretty original. I wanted it to be a strong counterpoint to the MID-001, which is much more chunky, can't fly and has all hand and shoulder mounted armament.

Quoting Eric Sophie Good brick work in this mech, fine job. I was gonna say, just as a technique I do, try to follow the brick, two plate and brick technic building pattern and it helps with certain connections and comes in handy to keep things strong and balanced. This is to help with the frame work. Check it out, I want to see if you know what I mean, the IMS-MID-002 reminds me of some of the things I built in the BLACK BEAR, only if it were rebuild a little bigger using this kind of Tech: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=213214 Cool Mech, good build!
Thanks for the mech tech! I'll be posting a few frames in the future that I've used, but they are nothing on the scale of yours. Sometimes it feels like a bit of cheap-out, but I mostly use the pre-made joints (exo-force ratchet joints, AT-AT joints, click joints, etc) as opposed to building my own. One of the reasons for this is ease of building, but the other is lack of worm screws and large technic turntables, etc. I would love to build a teknomeka scale gundam (the wing zero custom gundam comes to mind), but I just don't have the parts for it--yet. In any case, do you ever find that with the frame you showed me, that it is difficult to find a stationary spot to put a cockpit for a minifig?

I like this. The armament suits this mech, and the color scheme makes it look stealthy and sleek almost.

Quoting Jay Howard lol good to see ya again Myth, what happened dude?
Likewise. Welll...I have no idea what happened. With the exception of one or two people I had a really good relationship with the MOCpages community, so I don't know if I was targeted on purpose to be destroyed or if it was just random. Sean claims it was not a malfunction, so it must have been a hack job. Meh...it gave me time to clean up the ugly backgrounds on some of my MOCs and then repost them all again. Keeps me out of trouble.

I love the big, bulky look of this. Also, great gun and missile launcher design. Plus, I'm a sucker for the black color scheme.

Quoting Mike Johnson Love the color scheme and upgrades versus the 001 unit. I don't remember seeing this one in any of the F.M. games so I'm guessing this is your own design.
It is. But the pics are kinda...not good on this one. There is a clearer and better pic of it in with the MID-001.
