This is my design of an AK-47 automatic assault rifle.

About this creation

Once upon a time I decided to try my hand at designing a replica of a machine gun. (Hey, it was a lonely winter break...) Anyway, I picked an AK-47 for the task. The whole process took me 3 days, or approximately 20 hours. It was a hard task trying to get the dimensions just right, since I've never actually seen one up close and had to rely primarily on pictures. As a result some of the proportions are a little off. But this is my first shot at the AK (pun intended), and also at designing a real-life replica of any gun.
As you may have already noticed the gun is missing a stock. Maybe at a later time I will go back and make one, I even put 6 1x2 technic bricks at the back for easy integration. I also did not want to be overburdened with detail, so I omitted small things such as a safety switch (who needs them anyway :-)).

Anyway, hope you like it and I welcome ANY criticisms.

I made the barrel from tires to make it round and relatively sturdy.

The trigger operates via a small technic shock absorber and the magazine loader uses rubber bands to recoil.

Uh, WOW. Everything is incredible, except the trigger, and the section above the trigger. I am amazed at how realistic you got this. The foregrip is amazing, and the magazine idea is brilliant. I believe that is the best magazine idea I have seen on MOC pages, or any other site for that matter. The charging handle could use some work, but the safety is great. I really like the barrel, but it could afford to be a wee bit longer. I would add a stock to blow people away. Overall, I wouldn't walk outside with this thing, you might get arrested. Incredible job. (clap clap)

pretty sweet model, though i have to agree with lawrence fetter, the barrel does seem short, hoping to see a buttstock =) P.S. check out my guns and tell me what you think about them if you can :)

Yes, it is the best so far. Now, here is my criticism (for improvement). Handgrip: more shape to it would make it look (and feel) better. Magazine: excellent idea (may I use it?). Barrel: sights too large, barrel seems too short. Forehand grip: I like the shape you gave it. The Gun: a little too fat. When lloking at it, it looks a bit big and it doesn't give me the impression of a sleek AK-47, but it is definitely the best so far. Overall: 4 out of 5
