Ever since Ive been crewing I wanted to design and build my own Chinook. The Chinook is the Armys heavy lift helicopter it has a rotor span of 60ft and is 97ft 10in long with blades. Recently the US Army has begun replaceing the old Delta models with the new Fox models. The biggest improvement is the CAAS system which replaces all the old gauges and uses mutifunctional display(MFD)to display everything making it all digital. The newer pics are my updated version.
About this creation
This was my bird while in a Afghanistan it was a D model that was left there but now we have the new Fox models
Getting the right look for the cockpit was by far the hardest part but I like the way it came out.
With the rotor head I tried to create the look of the blade dampeners and oil hubs. The rain shield underneath the aft rotor head here gave it a good look but I just couldnt get it to look right on the forward head.
The bubble window pictured here is for observation of the engines and for clearing the aircraft in flight from the back when the pilots do some yanking and banking. The freq anntena here is not exactly to scale but still gives the same effect. With the engines I wanted to make engine air partical seperators (EAPS)cans but had to do fod screens instead since the cans didnt look right on this scale.
The center hook with hanging from the hole is our bread and butter and why we are known as "hookers". External load is a maximum of 25,000 tandem and 26,000 on the center hook single point. I wish there were better pieces available or at least color on the LDD program to build it.
absolutely buddy, no worries but can you send me pics when your done? I would like to see how it comes out. I've since redesigned the engines a little to look like the new exhaust mod we are currently fielding on all our acft, but i wont have it till next month.

hey mate, this is awesome can i have your permission tobuy the bricks off lego and make it then put it in a moc im making?dont worry i wont take credit for it ill tell everyone you made instructions.
this is the best chinook ive ever seen! you can post instructions by clicking "my documents" in the start menu, then you have to find and click on a folder that says "LEGO creations" and you open it then there will be a folder that says "Models" and you click on that and then you look for the model and click on it to post it!

I'd think they'd let you wear want you want, since it won't really matter since you're in the helo. Do you rock a .50 or they still have M60's, or are you not a door gunner?
I started out as a door gunner but now I'm a crew chief. We carry 240B's now that the M60 has been retired. Pretty much the same gun just updated and more reliable I think. Other than that the Spec Ops guys use mini guns on their birds.

Hmm, I'd of thought it would've blended better, but I could see it sticking out more against the sky. Do you guys every wear the ACU/ARPAT flightsuits, or do you perfer the solid color ones?
We did wear both on this last trip to Afghanistan but the Army offically got rid of them and now we sport only digital A2CU's. But we still perfer the tans, much more comfortable.
