Another practice model castle. The Citadel took me one week to build.
About this creation
Ta-dah!
Before you read on, here is some quick info. This build is actually a practice build. I built it to see just how fast I could build a MOC, but still keep the detail I usually put into each piece. It took me 7 days to build this with a total of about 15 hours. So come on and take a look.
Anyway this is my latest and newest creation. It now has taken record in my book for reaching the most pieces used, beating the previous record of the set of Dawn Conquest II. Although both measure 96x48 studs, but The Citadel contains approx. 8,000 lego pieces. The twin towers guarding each side of the Citadel measure exactly 1 foot in height, thats 32 bricks tall in lego geek talk. I noticed a lot of you saying in my WIP post that you would wish to see what that build would have looked like had I completed it. This is similar to what is would of looked like. Pretty much I took everything I really like about the WIP post and changed the overgrown idea into a lakeside property and "BAM!" The Citadel was born!

I found this technique of stained glass to work rather well. I placed one of those stained glass door "turn-table" pieces usually found in Knights Kingdom sets in the building to simulate the stained glass look.

One of the other guard towers.

The citadel is a lakeside fortress so here is part of the lake. I wanted to simulate a current to blend with the rocks as if the water is pushing to shore.

The fountain is my favorite part of this build. None of the pieces inside the fountain are connected in anyway. By this I mean the water, the fountain, and the running water. They are all laid on top of each other. I piled up 1x1 trans-clear bricks to simulate the flow of water in the fountain.

A shot of the courtyard.

The tavern.

In the tree you can see a mother bird guarding her nest. The nest is really a cowboy hat turned upside down with a white 1x1 piece in it.

A small park.

Now lets see what's going on with some of the city folks.
The king watches over the lake.

An archer practices his aim at the archery range.

" Hey Billy, that grey thing coming toward me is a rock, right?"

Pirate vs Knight

Pirate wins.

The whole set. Consider this my final big post of the summer, with my birthday coming up on the 19th and the MocOlympics just around the corner, I'll be pretty tied-up.

This is a practice build for the MocOlympics. One week, the game gives 10 days. Thanks for looking and lets hear some opinions!

Hi Dylan,
Amazing! Incredible that you can build such a large MOC in only 15 hours. I especially like the funny details that you put into your MOC's. |

Wow, the details are just stunning! This is just amazing. I like the way you made the mother birds nest and with a egg in it. Also, the stained glass looks great and the fountain with the flowing water. I notice you used SNOT in the water (I think). I really love this creation because of that amount of details. Just amazing. Awesome work. ~ Ghostman :) |

Excellent work! Usually I'm against so many studs, but in your Citadel it doesn't bother me. The birds nest is really creative. Btw, have you thought about putting a red rubber band around a sword to act as blood? ~M
I usually don't like studs too much, but when you are trying to make a landscape the studs bring a rough and textured terrain that you can't get with SNOT. That rubberband idea is awesome too, I'll be sure to remember that in the future. Thanks! -Dylan |

You're a living example, I'm assuming you aren't a zombie or something, of practice makes perfect. A nice scene, stabbing aside, with lots of good details. Some of the other guys around here should follow your lead and get to work. Good luck in the contest and here's a bit of practicle advice. Learn how to cook. see ya. garth |

The buildings look great, you should really follow this particular project more, it looks great so far. Come see the new updated version of Blocktropolis, there's one building I'm sure you'll like! http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/141795 ~T |
