R/C Pro-Touring Musclecar.
About this creation
This time i wanted to make a Musclecar. didnt realy know what model or brand so i just made something what looks like one. What i always liked where Pro-Touring musclecars. To be short about what Pro-Touring is, its modern performance in a classic package. It's all about great driving conditions.

So what does it all do? Thats the most interresting question for a technic model.
It is C/R
It has 4-WD
Individual suspention
4 wheel steering
Automatic transmission (high gearing, low gearing and reverse)
It starts in high gear and when it moves up a slope it will change automaticly in lower gears.
The grill can be moved in fron of the headlights. ( i beleve chargers have that option)
The headlights turn with the wheels. in other words they look into the corner when you make a turn. something you see on modern cars.

Ive changed the lower A-arm from the front suspention so the wheels will tilt a bit when you steer. it helps to handle the car better in cornering. lots of cars have that. i saw it on a BMW X5.
The steeringwheel rotates with the wheels.
The hood, trunk and doors open.
And ofcourse a working V8
It's 25 studs wide

It would look better with other tires. To bad i dont have them.

Here you that the wheels and headlights are straight and pointing forewards.

Here you see that the wheels tilt a bit. It is done for better handling in corners. To make them you need to put the lower A-arm 1/2 stud more to the front.

The headlights are pointing into the corner.

Hood, trunk and doors open. You can see the battery in the trunk and the V8 in the front fueled by 2 carburetors.

View of the automatic transmission. It works like this:
1st you need a differential. One side is the outputaxle, the other one is the inputaxle. At the inputaxle you put on the gears you need to shift between. On the differential you put a gear where you put a arm on. So when you turn the inputaxle of the differential and hold the outputaxle the arm will have to move. You attach the arm at a shifter. The shifter needs to be attached at a axle with gears. Use rubber bands or a spring to put the arm into 1st gear. Next to the shifter you put another axle with all the same gears and put a motor on it. You dont need clutchgears in this system. You slide with the gears.
This is in words how it works. I hope i'm clear enough about the automatic transmission and hope to see it in more MOC's soon.

Congratulations! Your creation got to the first place in the "Functional LTFreaks" challenge (of the group LTFreaks)(because it has a lot of functions) with two other creations, Koenigsegg Supercar by Jurgen Krooshoop and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 by Technic Man. Again, Congratulations! It really deserves a 5/5!

Real nice, do you have more picture of the automatic gears, nut sure how to build-in or make it?

Nice work on the automatic gearbox, how smooth are the gear changes when you drive it? I am looking for an automatic shift for a R/C car that changes nicely with no jamming, or getting 'stuck' between gears.

Nice...Kun je eindelijk eens met je muscle car in bergachtig gebied vertoeven met een goede wegligging. Dit ziet er echt cool uit. Grtz, Sid

Quoting jason datnow This is nice. The wheels suit the car. Love to see more pictures with some body removed. Want to steel some ideas.
The car has been taking partiualy apart. Some of it is still in tact. Depends what you want to see. maybe i can take a picture of the part if it still is in tact. If not, i'm willing to help you out if you have questions.

Quoting Dihara Wijetunga Really nice car!!!i love RCs so this really caught my eye!this is probably your best MOC yet.....and by that automatic gearbox your using is taken from Sariel's one right? SOOO IF ANYONE NEEDS INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE AUTO GEARBOX HERES THE LINK: http://sariel.pl/2009/04/2-speed-automatic-gearbox/
Thats exactly how it works. Thanks for putting a link. pictures always make it much more clear than words. I didnt used that or another site to make an automatic transmission though. I'm an bacheolor of mechanical engineering. I like to figure out things and then make them. The harder the problem the more fun it is to make it. Building from instructions istnt fun at all.

Quoting Sebeus I Very impressive, I find that automatic transmission most interesting, I really must know how you made it so automatic. it's an awesome car, a video with it riding around would be great. good job
I've updated the site with the working of the automatic transmission. I hope it's clear enough. if you have more questions about it just let me know. I would like to have a video of it to but i dont have a camera :(

It is very cool, but the pictures are to dark so some light will make this car even better. The best way is to make it outside with the sun. ;P Keep building like this.
