AlphaShark V1
Disguised as a shark it locates and destroys ships and submarines...
About this creation
(the background image was found here)

The Killer Shark is an advanced one person submarine used to find and destroy larger military seacraft.
It caries one torpedo and two smaller missiles (its "eyes") but is also equiped with a double laser cutter to burn holes in the hulls of ships and submarines.
(I actually wanted to do it in black or dark grey but my brick capacity didn't allow me)

I'll start with a small scene to give you an image of a Killer Shark confrontation.

Aboard a military submarine, crew of 28, coming back from a succesful mission...

"diner ! "

"great, I'm hungry"

"ah excellent"

(big mistake here, a woman on a military submarine ???)

"anything on the radar ? "

"nope ... wait! ... oh, it's just a shark"

Booooooooooem !!!

-_-
For those who hadn't figured out yet; the shark on the radar was actually the Killer Shark, it launched a torpedo on the submarine.
I know this lacks some realism at some points (more of that below)
Now some closer pictures of its weapon systems and details.

The 'gills' are used to let in water for cooling the engine.

The cocpit is quite comfortable for one minifigure. He fits in it though it's not easy to put him in.

The 'mouth' of the killer shark can open to deploy its double laser cutters

...it's a bit dark in there so you probably can't see the lasers, they are just two transparant red cone pieces.

On the 'nose' of the killer shark are two harpoonguns installed, they pierce into the hull of a ship and send out a signal so the torpedo knows where to go

The Killer Shark simply drops the torpedo after pointing the target on its minicomputer. So it's quite an advanced torpedo as well.

behind the 'backfin' are two hatches I wanted to use as mini missile launchers but it didn't work out. Still, the hatches are there.

Some of you probably know that a military submarine mostly uses the sonar for hearing their environment rather than radar for visible images, in real life the killer shark would have been detected because it's made out of metal, visibility is bad underwater but hearing is a lot better since sound produces faster in water than in air, also that female chef in the sub :p not very realistic, I'm not being sexist here, why I think women aren't even allowed on a submarine, maybe that's different nowadays, submarines are spacier and hygene is better.

Anyway, I'm drifting off,

This is what inspired me, Kuifje (or Tintin in French) is a comicbook, this one is my favourite. The writer, Hergé was Belgian (just like me :) ). As you can see my design doesn't look much like the one in the comic, it was particulary the idea of a submarine shaped like a shark that intrigued me.
btw, Spielberg is going to make a movie of this comic, I'm very curious

Save the Sharks
I called my sub, Killer Shark, to seperate it from real sharks.
Real sharks aren't killers, they do as any other carnivores, they kill to eat. The few shark attacks on people are often caused by confusion of a sharks, a shark doesn't eat people, if it bites (because it thinks you're something else) it wil rarely bite again.
If you think about it a shark attack is very logical,
try following me in this example,
A surfer, with a thermal suit to keep warm in the cold water had been surfing very good, he's tired and decide to rest a bit on its board, in the mean time an innocent great white is hungry and is hunting in HIS territory, then it sees something that appearently looks like a delicious seal, the seal is floating on the surface and makes an easy prey so the shark decides to attack and speeds up while opening its jaws...
Something unexpected happens, the seal doesn't react like a seal and it sure doesn't taste like one...
the shark is not sure to attack again, it decides to leave and find another prey.

The problem is, when a great White thinks you're a seal (since they often mistake surfers laying on their surfboard for seals) and it bites you only have little chance of surviving that one bite.
Anyway, Sharks happen to be one of my favourite animals, I particulary like the beautiful White shark.
Movies like Jaws give people a wrong image of sharks,
I won't even blame a shark if he almost killed me, the sea is their natural habitat, We are the intruders, the sharks mean us no harm but we confuse them and they might think we are preys.
I'll convince you with numbers,

Since 1876 Great White sharks have been responsible for 65 deaths and 242 recorded non-fatal attacks worldwide...
I hope you get the point, you have more chance dying by falling of a stairs than being attacked by a great white
so lose the prejudgements, you won't get attacked by a shark, unless you really ask for it.

So everybody, don't hate sharks !

just remember not to dress up like a seal in area's where sharks have been recorded, particulary when you're losing blood you will attract them

Quoting swash buckler What could be cooler thing you can do with yellow bricks- than sharkshaped submarine- this is excellent- you also got many many sharks- i think that old sharks are much better than the new one from pirate ship- well would be nice set still but i won't buy so big sets anymore (except endor if i can find it- i'll definitely will buy it) I think you don't buy legos anymore but aren't those yellow grilleslopes (whatever -you know i suppose) from the new y-wing or what- and please check out this: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/145187
nope, they aren't from the y-wing, I think they are from the 'city corner' I don't buy a lot lego anymore, I sarch for good deals, the last set I bought was the Temple of the Cristal Skull, I paid 52 euro instead of 89 so that's a pretty good deal, I also first use lugnet to check out what bricks are in a set before I decide to buy it

Quoting SwordFish . Very nicely done, Sebeus! I'm not crazy about the choice of colors, but, for the most part, excellent job! Also, I bring the unfortunate news that I won't be able to participate in Round 1 with you. High School is starting next week, and, as you can imagine, I'm quite busy. Sorry for the inconveniance. I'm bummed that I can't participate-especially for landscaping-but, there always has to be a winner. Although no match actually took place, you're going to Round 2. Good luck in Round 2, Sebeus! I'll be rooting for ya! And once again, I apologize for not being able to compete. BTW Make sure you still post something for Round 1, you'll need it to advance.
too bad, I would have liked to compare my landscaping skills with yours, but I understand, I just finished high school and I'm very glad I won't have to go there anymore ;)
