VRMS-ST-002 "S-Type mk II"
Second generation version of the S-Type. It has been optimized for close combat. This one was also heavily inspired by the Exia Gundam from Gundam 00
About this creation
VRMS-ST-002 “S- Type mk II”

Like the G-Type mk II, the S-Type mk II was also the result of Remnant High Command’s all out war directive. Where before, the S-Type mk I had been suited for fighting a rearguard action, the task of Void Resistance Mecha Systems to take the mk I design and create an assault capable version. The mecha would need to be able to fight in protracted engagements against an overwhelming number of foes. It would also need to be able to destroy large targets on its own, when given the opportunity.

The S-Type mk II was overall the largest departure from its mk I counterpart out of all the second generation mecha, both in appearance and armament. The inner and outer structure were completely rebuilt with heavier weapons, armor and thrusters in mind. Gone was the emphasis on speed and mobility.

Where the mk I only carried two weapons, the mk II was a walking armoury of melee weapons. The mecha was equipped with no less than seven different swords. The theory behind the design was to give the mk II a virtually limitless supply of melee weapons, but also to give it a large number of possible combinations to use the weapons in. The mk II’s primary weapon was a folding sword/shield/gun. The gun was added as an afterthought, to give the mk II some semblance of ranged weapons. The sword mounted on the shield was of the same type as the SWD-2512 “Claymore D” anti-armour sword that had been equipped on the W-Type mk I. On its hips were mounted two SWD-8775 “Lightning” ion blades, capable of disabling an enemy vehicle on impact. On its shoulders were mounted two SWD-8752 “Blaze” heat blades. Finally, two short beam daggers were mounted behind the waist. When not in use, the hip and shoulder weapons also functioned as AMBAC binders.

However, the most devastating feature of the S-Type mk II’s armament was no single weapon, but, rather, the capability of using all of them simultaneously. This ability was discovered by accident when the latent psychic test pilot, Aqua Sunbearer’s powers awakened, and activated all the mk II’s armament, using them to destroy all of the test targets simultaneously. Though few pilots would ever develop the skill necessary to use this system to its full potential, the instance inspired the developers to continue developing the idea of remote weapons, their efforts eventually culminating in the creation of the W-Type mk IIIbFS.

In terms of its defensive capabilities, the mk II featured heavier armor over the entire body, not just the forearms and shoulders. It also featured heavier boosters on the legs and a more powerful central booster unit. Its mobility was only slightly less than the mk I.

Nearly 50 S-Type mk IIs would be produced over the course of two years. Following the destruction of the Remnant fleet and the subsequent advent of third generation mecha, approximately only 14 mk IIs remain, mostly functioning in the capacity of officer units.

Following the development of third generation mecha such as the M-Type mk I, the S-Type’s capabilities were deemed to be superfluous by High Command, as well as too difficult to mass produce in the quantities that were needed.

Awesome design! I really like the weaponry for this one. I'm a recent fan of Gundam 00 and love Exia. "I...AM...GUNDAM!"

Quoting Jesse Long Nice mecha, Mithryl. By the way, I hope that a. that Koei/Tecmo make another Dynasty Warriors: Gundam game, b. that the Gundam 00 mecha and characters are in it, c. that there is more music from the series in this game and d. that this game will also come out for the PS2 with as many features as its larger sized bretheren.
I don't think we'll see it for PS2. Maybe PSP. But here's hoping!

Quoting Josiah Tsang Very cool. You like 00 or seed/sdestiny better?
As a show, I like 00 better. The animation, music, storyline, voice acting, characterization and low amounts of stock footage were in every way superior to seed. However, I still like the mecha designs in Seed/Destiny better than 00.
