VRMS-GT-002 "G-Type mk II" and Variants
Second last of the Second Generation Mecha. Features a single or a twin cannon variant. I'm just throwing these up here now because I'm getting impatient. This one was heavily influenced by the Gundam X/Double X from the Gundam X series.
About this creation
VRMS-GT-002 “G- Type mk II”

When the Remnant High Command issued its all out war directive, Void Resistance Mecha Systems was tasked with the creation of mecha that were better suited to assault roles than defensive ones. It was determined that the G-Type series, which had thus far, functioned in a rear-guard capacity would receive further development to fit High Command’s directives.

The resulting machine was the G-Type mk II. Although the mk II did not deviate much in outward appearance from the mk I, its payload was far more advanced and versatile than its predecessor, as was the variety of mission roles it could fulfill.

The development team stripped the mk I back to its X-Type mk I frame, and then upgraded it to an X-Type mk II frame. From there, the chassis and superstructure were rebuilt, making the G-Type mk II a direct descendant of the X-Type mk II.

The weapons systems were upgraded from the mk I’s armament. The largest difference would be its shoulder mounted XMS-0086 “Sunbeam” heavy positron cannon and positron capacitor. The XMS-0086 cannon was capable of firing at greater range with greater destructive potential and more accuracy than the XMS-8574 “nuclear bazooka” nuclear cartridge launcher. Furthermore, it was also less bulky, and capable of firing more shots with less power drain than the XMS-8574, due to its use of a “solar collector” to attract and absorb positrons from the surrounding area. The cannon was mounted on the back with a pivot that would allow it to swivel from a ready position over the shoulder to its rear when it was not needed, freeing the mk II’s hands for other uses.

The mk II’s secondary armament was also similarly upgraded. The shoulder mounted missile rack was moved to the leg modules, and another was mounted on the other leg, doubling the mk II’s missile capacity over the mk I. Heavier missiles were also used. The wrist blasters were retained from the mk I, but were upgraded to rapid fire. The dual chest cannons on the mk I were upgraded to a rapid fire quad mount. Finally, a dual heavy laser cannon was mounted on a pivot on the other shoulder unit. For melee combat, the mk II was given an electromagnetic piledriver mounted under one forearm. The piledriver was capable of delivering a “shockwave burst” on impact, destroying an enemy unit in one hit.

The addition of several auxiliary boosters on the leg units gave the mk II greater mobility over the mk I, though it was still relatively slow compared to its W-Type and S-Type brethren.

Nearly 40 G-Type mk II mecha would be produced over the course of two years, though more than half that number were simple conversions from mk I units. Following the destruction of the Remnant Fleet, less than 20 of the units had survived. Currently there are 8 operational G-Type mk II units in service, and are mostly awarded as officer units.

Known Variants

VRMS-GT-002A “G-Type Mk IIA ‘Dual Cannon’”

The G-Type IIA “Dual Cannon” was produced during the campaign to defend the Targonian System once the Void had been overthrown. With many of the fleet’s capital vessels being repaired and refitted, the need for a unit with firepower matching a capital vessel arose to fill the vacuum.

The mk IIA was identical in every respect to the mk II, except that it mounted a second XMS-0089 “Sunbeam” heavy positron cannon on its back pivot, and a second positron capacitor. The capacitors were moved to the forearms, and a second dual heavy laser cannon was mounted on a pivot on the opposite shoulder.

Only two mk IIA units were ever fielded and both were destroyed while attempting to hold back an assault by the B-Type mk II.

Awesome! I like the color scheme. The twin guns remind me of the SDF1 from Robotech:)
