Venator Class Star Destroyer (UCS ISD scale)
Flagship of the Grand Army of the Republic done in UCS ISD scale (1:1600).
About this creation
I've finally finished my Venator Class Star Destroyer built to official UCS ISD scale. This was without a doubt the hardest ship I've ever built. It's also the largest at 90 studs long. I never could've built this without the inspiration from three other great Venators: Master builder Erik Varszegi's, Martin Latta's, and brickcommander's. This ship is probably my second favorite ship to the Royal Naboo Starship (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/141073). This was the first time I've built a ship to a non-minifig scale. Its for model purposes only of course. I really enjoyed building it and learned a ton in the process. I hope to built many other large scale models in the future. So enough with the rambling. "Let's get down to the nitty-gritty! [What] is this [Venator]?"- Nacho Libre

Specs:
UCS ISD scale
90 studs long
28" long ( 2' 4")
A LOT of pieces. Not sure how many.

A top view obviously. Gives you an idea of the shape I went with. I tried to make it as accurate to the movie shape as possible.

I went with black engines even though dark grey would have been the correct color simply because its what I had. I didn't even have enough dark grey to build the engines out of plates, so black ones made from wheels and bricks are what you get.

Here's a close up of the bridge tower with all the light pieces.

Here's a shot of the guns. I wanted to make them more detailed, but due to limited space working with ISD scale, I had to simplify them.

The starboard side hanger door is closed whereas...

The port side hanger door is open.

I built the underbelly docking bay that's on the real ship. I know, I know it has yellow in there, but once again that's one of those "that's what I had, so that's what I used" situations.

I built a mini republic cruiser that...

docks into the underbelly docking bay.

Let me know what you think!

This is the best Venator on here, not because its accuate, but what makes it the best is that its to scale with the UCS ISD! total 10000/5

Blake this turned out great! It looks even sweeter in person! For me, being someone who doesn't understand the skill it takes to build such creations I was greatly impressed watching you put this together. I enjoyed seeing how you overcame strength and structural issues. It is an excellent build Blake! Way to Go! I love your passion! You'll need to let us know about that brick order for christmas. We just might have to see what we can do to help out since you are on a college budget :) Mom

Nicely done, buddy! To everyone out there, I can attest to the fact that he spent every minute of free time on this. (No time to hang out.) :( Yeah, you heard me, I know this kid. But in all seriousness, this ship rocks and a half. And I think it looks better with black engines.

Quoting Moodswim . Man, this is by far one of THE best Venators I've seen on here! Very accurate shape and design. I love the mini cruiser too. All you have to do is add some mini JSF's and you could enter this in my Jedi VS Sith contest in SW movie MOCS:)
Sweet! So there's only one problem. At this scale Jedi Star Fighters would be like less than a 1x1 plate :( Any other ideas? or could entering the venator as one of the Jedi General's command ship work?

Thanks everyone for your nice comments! To answer Pepper's question it took me about a week, but it was an intense week where I spent all my free time on it. I was in a rush to finish it before heading off to college where I'll have no legos til Christmas to build with! :( And ya Thomas I agree the engines definitely don't look right black, but it really was the best I could do with what I had. I BADLY wanted them to be dark grey but I have a very miniscule amount of dark grey pieces. I'll add that to my Christmas Bricklink order. :D

Wow this is excellent and I mean it because I am not a big fan of the Clone wars, I like the Imperial Era a lot more than the clone wars era. So this is a pretty sweet ship!

Yay! someone who puts some effort into a big venator. The greebles on the side are nicely done, and the bridge is very nicely portrayed (which alot of venators mess up). My only gripe is the black engines, but if that's what you had to work with, there isn't much you can do.

That's amazing! On second thought, maybe you shouldn't fit it into the contest =) Seriously, an incredible build: accurate, great scale, and I love the cruiser mini! How long did this take you?
