MocOlympics Round #1 - Joe P vs. JD Luse
Building in the category Mech, Bracket 1C...
About this creation
Holy snap, Chris put a castle builder in the Mech category! Is he trying to make me cry?

(That was a *cough* joke, judges...)

Okay, I just deleted two whole paragraphs of commentary and about three good jokes after deciding that you really don't need to know my pains during this build. I'm just gonna let the MOC speak for itself. Dealio?

Not that I'm gonna throw out my ramblings...Oh no, we don't want to go there. In fact, there's a lot of places we don't want to go! I'll let that speak for itself as well.

Has anyone ever said how stinkin' stressful the MO's are? Well I just did. It's almost as bad as the anticipation of a root canal. But a root canal doesn't have the creativity of Lego bricks. And it has a shot in the gums. Those hurt, man...

Speaking of shots, this one is from the rear, looking at what the mech looks like without the shoulder rockets...

...as is the case with this picture, which unfortunately doesn’t show the true maneuverability of the legs. The more mellow style of mecha comes out a bit in this non-attack mode, showing a bit of how it looked when I fist started the planning.

But of course, it looks way better with the rockets because you know everybody likes big guns. Er...yeah. I'll leave it at that.

At first, I was gonna have all the pictures taken in front of this cute little 32x32 interior, but with a little help from Caleb Blanchet, realized it took a lot away from the actual entry. Don't get me wrong, I love pressing grill tiles into place as much as Keith Goldman, but I was building a mech, not a floor.

Everybody likes a good floor. I, personally, like a comfy floor. I mean, if my relatives are going to be visiting this often, maybe I should get a thicker sleeping bag! Or I could just sleep curled up on the couch. Six foot long couch...my foot. No really, it hurts my foot.

Bulldog

My opponent's entry is here.

Well folks, that's all for now! Go sniff some gasoline...or listen to Ozzie Osborn. They'll do the same thing to you.

A lovely little build, I am especially fond of how you designed the legs and feet. Let's make it 3/3 votes, and you get mine as well. Congrats. Lee.

Quoting Ryan Tennant he put me, a mech builder in the CASTLE category!!
The more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that he did it on purpose. I mean, I would never had built this unless he had put me in this category, and had I not built this, I wouldn't have realized how fun mechs are to build! It may not be my best, but it was fun...and it was all because he put me in the mech category. Even if I lose this first round, it's been worth it already.

Smooth and compact, it reminds me of ED-209 which can only be a good thing. Good job.

Know what you mean, it's not easy to compete in a category that we don't build often - But the result is very cute and clean, so good luck !

A true inspiration for the vertically challenged. For some reason this looks awkwardly similar to a mini-Gremlin.

Dude, you just made me realize two things. 1) I definately need to get more grill tiles, and 2) Mechs are simple at heart, yet complex in theory and execution. A great little mech from you, JD. (Why couldn't I get killed by THIS?)
