The FORTITUDE Class Assault Mech, my finest lego creation so far and my favorite to date!
This is Group 1, round 1, and the category is simply mechs.
and <ahref=http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/5756> Roflcopter </a>
is my opponent
About this creation
Time for some military talk!

The medium weight mech of the Dawn Forge. This walker is larger and packs more of a punch than the Unity or Ignition mechs, but falls short of the immense firepower of the Schism or Ascension classes. The mech can often be found doing anything from scouting to convoy escorting to front line attacks to ambassadorial transportation.

The mech features an array of weapons to demolish any target, vehicles or troops.
Here is the triple barreled Gatling gun. It has a side shield for protection of its fragile systems. The only way to exploit its weakness is to attack it from the front, looking up the barrel.

A large intake grille dominates the front of the mech's chassis.

A lighter view of the hip area.

Heavy and large feet makes the mech stable and able to crush light vehicles or infantry.

Top view of the mech's cockpit displaying its heavy, thick armor. The 7 inches of Ceramic Polymer is backed by a titanium alloy armor plating. This truly is a heavy and sturdy mech; once I tipped it over onto a small truck I made. The mech stayed intact but the truck's pieces remain scattered several feet from the site of the crash.

the back of the mech sports two large radiator cones for increased cooling system effectiveness. Filtered vents in the rear keep this mech's cabin from getting too hot for the pilot(s).

Large rail gun is made in the new MAG-DRIVER technology. This one fires at a velocity equal to 40 Mega Joules and can do a maximum of 60 Rounds per Minute. At such a speed, the shell can fire directly THROUGH a modern day tank.

Another back view reveals the ladder that leads to an entrance hatch below the cabin. This is the primary method of entry for the pilot.

Yet another view detailing the ladder in all its glory and the hatch that it leads to.

Two photos of the mechs legs from the back. Nice detail and slopes. Prongs extending from the sides and rear help stabilize it on rougher terrain.

Gatling gun again. With back view.

The small window. The window also features an "Airlock" technology which in an emergency can close a series of doors behind the window that will block all entry through it. The window is a nice luxury for the FORTITUDE pilots, but they can also view using displays from cameras and sensors outside the mech.

The two 30mm automatic cannons. These are updated versions of the outdated A-10 Warthog's cannon. There is also a rapid firing machine gun in between the two other cannons for anti-infantry use only.
Below is a sensor pod with laser rangfinder. This is the primary sensor system.

Enough of the military talk. Time for the cockpit shots!

Leather seats and...

Yes, dual cupholders.

The spacious cabin can hold another person or two. It is the most spacious one in the Forge I believe. It can be used as a transport for VIPs because of its armor and luxurious cabin.

Opened hatch to show the ladder down.
---
Yes, there you have it. Me over doing it for the first round of MOColympics. My opponent even forfeited, lol. Well, I tried really hard anyway and I think I did very well.
EDIT- I have a new opponent! Roflcopter! I hope he presents a challenge, but I still have my bets on this mech.
This is a showcase of my new found skills in lego mechs and also my new sorted boxes.
This was completed in about 20 hours, more than half of which were spent studying Brian Kescenovitz's mechs. (and half of that was spent drooling at them) Thank you for the inspiration and ideas!
This MOC has been my second reaching both the top of the most popular this week list and most discussed listings. Thank you everyone!

Excellent tan lining, I think it's a first for Dawn Forge. Awesome "head"! (it looks much D.A.) and very good interior.
Thank you! Its actually a second for DF. The SCHISM (which this was inspired by most) has tan I believe. and by DA do you mean Dark Augusto? if so, I have no influence from that theme. This is fully Dawn Forge and my own style. |

Nice! am I right in thinking that Brian's FOUNDATION class mech inspired you to make this? The body shape looks similar and the feet look like the ones used on the ICON class command mech (also by Brian). Anyway, keep up the good work :)
The feet were my own design, but yes, they to look like the Icon, but this was more inspired by the Schism and other mechs. While I enjoy the Foundation, I had this idea in mind since before it was posted. Its all DF though. |

That's a Mech to be proud of (as you evidently are, lol). My favourite part is the angled plates above the cockpit, be awesome if you could recreate that part studlessly. I don't usually go for studlessness, that much, but DF's different. Gonna take some beating. Good luck!
