This falcon was done to the same proportions as my large-scale ship.
About this creation
I built this small ship in time for a show I did in Wheaton, IL, Dec. '05. Taking a cue from my Macro Mini Sandcrawler, I had decided to build smaller versions of all my large ship/vehicle creations. This took me a few days to complete. The first version, the one I displayed at the show, can be seen here.

For my next version, I dramaticly changed the cockpit from the single cone piece I had before. I think this is much improved - there's even a small Han and Chewie in there!

I also went through and colored it as accurately as I could.

Unlike my large ship, the sloped angles are not tilted down, merely shaped.

The turret is a little weak, but I think it works well.

A friend suggested the round printed tile in front. Never be afraid to take advice, this looks great!

The sideways pieces here are actually not attached to the ship! They are merely slotted in and held firmly in place between the two wing pieces.

So here's where I got cheap. Yeah, those are the bottom panels from the original Falcon set. :)

White half-pins give the illusion of the forward lights.

An oddity: The plates on the underside here are held in place by hinges to fill in the gap from the large panel. In order to fix stuff in the inside, I can easily swing this open. At the show, someone remarked that it was like an access ramp... and darn it, they're right!

Seven legs, just like the real ship.

This is actually a fairly perilous construction until it all fits together. The round macaroni pieces are all held together by one stud each, which for those pieces is not very secure.

I was just looking through the "5 years ago" moc and saw this was like OMG this looks just like set #7778 but then thought wait you built this years before lego did... So what happened? Did lego steal this??

btw: MACRO means BIG. MICRO or MINI is small. This would be MIDI, or somewhere in between.
