Autobot Sideswipe
The Transformer Sideswipe as a Ferrari F430, in the style of the Transformers movies.
About this creation
I bought the LEGO Ferrari F430 Challenge set because I thought it looked pretty awesome, but didn't like that you could only make it red OR yellow, and not just make both cars. About four sets' worth of parts later, I have both cars, and Transformer versions of both. The red one ended up as Sideswipe and the yellow is Sunstreaker.

I think I started work on this guy before I heard Sideswipe was going to be in Transformers 2. Oh, well! I like my version just fine.

I've modified the vehicle a little for a more interesting "paint job." I cheated on the stripe on the side, changed the roof from red to white, and added actual tailpipes to the back instead of those round, 1x1 plates. I've used no stickers. The Ferrari sets feautre a multitude of STAMPs, which I particularly dislike. You'll just have to imagine where the headlights are, I guess (they're on his shoulders!).

Robot mode was pretty fun. I started with the skeleton (and changed it later to make the legs sturdier), started putting in the big crazy-looking stuff (fenders on shoulders, wheels, chest assembly, fenders on the feet) and filled in the smaller details last. I did the best I could to maintain some of the old 1984 aesthetics (front of the car on the chest, shoulder-mounted weaponry, white bits on arms, rocket pack, etc.).

I liked the movie character so much that I decided to add a sword to one arm. His other arm sports a large cannon on the forearm. Mounted on his left shoulder is a gatling gun (instead of a rocket launcher like his 1984 counterpart). On his back is his rocket pack, just like back in the 80s. This guy's pretty heavily armed. And he can fly.

There's a great deal of articulation in this guy, and thanks to those pistons on the backs of his legs, he has some good stability. I have no shots of him posing, so maybe I'll upload that on a later date. His mouth also has a bit of articulation. I prefer to spare no details.

Also worth mentioning is that this does not actually transform. What you see are separate models for vehicle and robot modes. This gave me a little more freedom for designing the robot.

Enjoy!

In Lego Digital Designer, then maybe copy off the pieces in real life into LDD. Or maybe send me the list of pieces.

Actually, in the original cartoon, both Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were Lamborghinis (Countach). Nice build anyway, I would have preferred Michael Bay using the F430 for Sideswipe instead of a silly concept of a Corvette (Why, Michael, why?). Also, the 458 in the third movie should have been yellow and be Sunstreaker.

That is AMAZING!!! @jake the original colour of sideswipe was red,but micheal bay said that red transformers were too "expensive" whatever that meant.so he just turned sideswipe into silver. If i may make a suggestion,u may want to make the head a tiny bit smaller somehow.everything else is PERFECT!!!

Great looking robot-I like the overall transformers-huge robot look you have in it-The side shot looks the best to me-It is a shame that it doesn't transform but its still ranked on one of the better tranformers Mocs out there.

This is amazingly amazing!!! I've been waiting for a good F430 Ferrari Transformer. It's just a shame you didn't get it to transform because I would have begged you for instructions, not saying that I don't want any though ;). Great work looking forward to you maybe making another super car but this time bigger and get it to transform! :DD

I can't believe that your moc hasn't got more comments, because you did an awesome job! I particularly like the different angles in the body. You didn't just make a skeleton and put tiles on it. I'm adding you to my favourite builders! ~M
