About this creation
My Astro Droid assisting me in space battles.
It took a wile to make. Had to go into each dat, change the colors. Soon I will have the dats on brickshelf, but i have to find it because i lost the final copy. However they are in the mdp on Brickshelf, and if anyone works on them, making it better, please put it on Brickshelf and tell me the adress in the opinion space. ThankYou.
Also if anyone has made an r7 head or body and is willing to let me use it, tell me also.

Brilliant work, man. I'd love a black-and-yellow R2 for the Aleph fighter, and this looks just as good! |

Also, my friend Philo ( http://www.philohome.com/ ) is very knowledgeable about LDraw Programs (he's the one that makes all those unofficial updates for LeoCAD, and the one I go to for answers to tech issues with the programs). Anyway, if you have a question about LDraw that I don't know the answer to, send Philo an email. Tell him "The Architect" sent you.
Thanks, I'll do that should I ever have any more questians... which is probable. And thanks for telling me how to add the custom colors. You should do that tutorial, you give good instructions.

Sure! (I might even make an illustrated tutorial of this sometime.) Anyway, here’s what you do:
1) Open MLCAD.
2) Drag a piece (might as well be the default 1x1 brick) into the “workspace” pane.
3) Click on the piece you just dragged in.
4) Go to the color pallet and click the button that says “More”.
5) Now you should see the “Select Color” window. Click the scroll bar (right side) twice, to go past the solid and transparent colors.
6) Now click one of the blank gray squares. It should say “unused” in the bar where the name of the color typically is.
7) Go to the bottom of the “Select Color” window and click the button that says “Define” (it should be between “Custom” and “Cancel”).
8) Enter the “code” of the color you want (if you know it), if not, this page is a big help: ( http://www.web-source.net/216_color_chart.htm ). For example, “Olive Drab” (U.S. Army color in Korea and Vietnam), will be R: 111, G: 142; B: 35. (Don’t worry too much about the HSV values. I think they adjust automatically.)
9) Select the “type” of color. It should default to “transparent”, but for best results pick a 24-bit option (solid or transparent).
10) Name the new custom color. If the name is more than one word, it is *very* important that you use underscores instead of spaces (i.e. "Olive_Drab").
11) Click “OK”. This will take you back to the “Select Color” window. Now click “Save as default colors”. Click “OK” again.
12) Save your model as a .ldr, close the file, and then open it again to make sure it worked. I use LDView for the final render. (You can find all the links on my homepage. Ldraw.org should have most of the programs you’ll need.) |

Did you know you can set custom colors in MLCAD? I just recently figured out how to do that (with some help from my friend Philo).
I knew that it was possible and I know how to get custom colors but haven't figured how to set them to a unused slot yet. Of course I've been busy with school work since I found out how to get custom colors so haven't had the time to try and figure out how to set it. But could you tell me, please? |

Ok, thats right. Maybe I have not seen the movies in such a long time that I forgot! I need to brush up on my Star Wars knowledge!
Well if you get a chance to see the original trilogy again here's some background R3s. If you got good eyes you can spot a blueish R3 in the Death Star while ObiWan is sneaking around. Though its very far back and very quick. Also on Hoth theres this orrangish one somewhere. |

A yellow astro droid. Is that short for Astromech droid? I have only heard really of R2s...
You've only heard of R2's What about R4 with the R2 head that ObiWan had. Or the R5 droid Luke originally bought with the bad motivator. Yes, astro is short for Astromech. It's what Kitster, or however you spell his name, said it "You got your own Astro Droid!" in episode 1. |
