Mocolympics round #2 group 1-A Ryan Tennant v.s. Wes Pitter
ok here we go! the category is space pirates,...iam going against an AFOL in this round so i doubt i will get into round 3, this is a re-make of the lego set loot island, i think i made the island quite well, it was extremely hard to get this thing to balance, but i did it in the end!
About this creation
and here is a link to Wes's homepage
iam in the space pirate category ive never done it before so im a little nervous this is a brand new thing for me...
another pic of the island

meet captain chromebeard! :D it was the only alien-like head i had so deal with it :D he is pretty ugly actualy with that whole dark orange skin complection... maybe there was an incident where he used to much fake tan....

a picture showing the detail of the bottom half of the island, note the roots dangling from the bottom of the island, they are probably from potatos or something... posibly onions, im not sure at this point in time.

a picture of the top half! yeah youve seen this all before in the main picture but never mind :P iam not realy sure how the vegetation survives because of the slight lack of oxygen...also not that the space dinghy and that rock on the far side balance the island, yuri gave me some tips on how to make it balance! Thanks yuri!

the island by its self, pretty peaceful.. note the plant life....its a pretty illogical island if you ask me.

captain chromebeard and his henchman discussing important matters, such as how they will split the loot etc.

the space dinghy will only fit one person along with the loot... oh well, he will be found eventualy, captain chromebeard is a very selfish pirate! looks like his henchman wont be getting his 25% of the loot! poor henchman....

here is the space going dinghy by its self! i doubt this flimsy 3rd hand space dinghy could survive even one hit from a BB gun...

c'mon even irates need number plates... even space pirates need number plates! (even if they are illegal or fake) as you can see the number plate is just two 1x1 yellow plates.

here is chromebeards henchman this is only one of 50! (well ony 5 realy... again, he likes to make himself sound better than he is)

here is a close up of chromebeard! he is pretty ugly if you ask me! but thats how a "pirate lord" should be....

here is a picture showing how the island is put together, the details of the technique is above the last picture

it uses the same techniques as a mysterion... hmmmm basicly those technic pegs with studs on the end, pushed into bricks facing downward making it so that I could place that lush grass onto the floating space island! pretty simple realy ^_^

I had quite a hard time thinking of what to build when i found out i had the space pirate category, so i made this... it is basicly a space pirate re-make of the official lego set "loot island" i think i should of made the island its self bigger, but if i did that it wouldnt balance at all, im suprised i managed to balance it at this size! the whole build took about 3 working hours over a course of 2 days (the first day was mostly spent thinking about what to build)...i got most of my inspiration from this picture ... so anyway thats it! and good luck to you Wes!

Now i have to feel the wrath of the judges! and here is another link to Wes's homepage thanks and bye for now!

And good luck to everyone in the second round!

Quoting Yuri Fassio It happened. Wes tried to overpower you with a giant pirate ship. His entry is marvellous, but if I were a judge, I'd still choose this one. Imagination aside, the fact that it balances on a single stud is stunning. Good luck with the real judges! :)

Quoting Yuri Fassio Well, I feel for poor Wes... He can't outbuild this cool, clean vig and it will be hard to outthink the brilliant idea of a remake of an existing set. The only hope ha has is to overpower you with collection extent, by posting an overlarge or overcomplex MOC. The space boat is brilliant, and Cap. Chromebeard's name fits the fig beautifully. Best of luck :)
thanks man! ^^good luck to you too yuri!
