Waihanga Railway Station
Waihanga Railway Station. Loosely based on other New Zealand railway stations. It takes it's name from the Maori word to build.
About this creation

Waihanga Station serves the beginning of the branch line which runs down to Pakiwaitara. This is a small coal mining town reminiscent of those that populated areas of New Zealand in the days of steam.

DSB1290 which was "saved" from scrap has been bought to help serve this line. Also 2 DC class locomotives are currently undergoing extensive rehauls before they will be going into service taking coal wagons from the mines to the ports for shipping overseas.

Waihanga station is used mostly to serve passangers traveling from the township of Pakiwaitara to the larger cities on the east coast. There is also plans to run a weekend tourist train but due to funding issues this has been put on hold.

More external shots of the station prior to its opening.

DSB1290 trundling through Waihanga Station without any wagons much to the disgust of the waiting workmen whose train could be a long time away.
