A huge project I made in 2004 for a charity event: I was to build a "European building", the heads of EU President Barroso and EU Parliament President Borrell and mosaics of all 24 members of the EU Commission
About this creation
As the charity event was all about children, we asked children form the Brussels International School to come and help build the flags that were to come on top of the building.
The building of Mr Barroso's head
The finished head. It was offered to him after the event. Quite a strange feeling to realise that one of my pieces is now somewhere in the office (or even house) of the number one figure in Europe.
I had to build Mr Borrell twice. A week before the event, I judged his head was too narrow. So I started all over.
But apparently, Mr Borrell liked himself a lot. He too got his head as a present.
And here are the mosaics, nicely lined up. At the event they were put on separate standards, of course.

Can you give any information on how much time you spend, and how many bricks got used?
Good thing to involve children also.
Quite hard to say. I made everuthing but the mosaics twice. It kept me busy for 6 months, but I guess it came to the equivalent of two months full time. In the staircase-building I used a lot of Duplo. But still there most be a few ten thousands bricks in there. Sorry I don't have more detailed numbers... Unskyld for det !
