a working belt fed M249 PARA (aka FN MINIMI), fires Rbs off a minigun mech.
About this creation
well, the time has come for me to post a new gun. this time i decided to make a proper LMG, and chose the M249 SAW (aka the FN MINIMI). this was gong to be a challenge for several reasons: it was a big gun, so i didnt know if i was going to be able to finish it with the pieces i had. i went for the smallest option - the PARA. then there was the problem of a hi-cap RBG mech, and then the problem of fitting the electrics in. i knew the chain mech wasnt going to be a problem, as i had actually started building this gun a few months ago, completing the chain mech and clicker, only to break the gun unfinished and make something else.

this is the small version of the M249, the M249 PARA. it has a shorter barrel and a folding stock, but retains the magazine port that the M249 SPW lost.
i could spend a long time telling you about all the features/purposes of the SAW, but instead of boring you, ill get onto what my gun does. it features:
-belt fed (tank tracks as the chain)
-built in clicker, that clicks once every time a chain link passes through the mech
-working hi-cap RB minigun mech at the front
-folding stock (also can be detached)
-removable chain box with opening lid for loading of the chain
-realism mech that stops the gun firing if there is no chain in the mech
-great looks XD
basically, there are 2 old-style 9v battery boxes in the gun. one is turned on when there is a chain in the port using a clever little mech, the other is turned on when you pull the trigger. these are connected through a micro version of my transformer (took a long time to work out how to make) to a motor and a switch. the transformer output will only turn on if both inputs are on, this stops the clicker working if there is no belt in the feed.
the motor powers the chain feed mech and a clicker. the chain feed cog has 6 notches/teeth for the chain pieces, so i sped the mech up using a 2:1 and a 3:1 gear system and then added a clicker that clicked once a revolution. this provides a 'gunshot' noise if there are no RBs being fired.
the switch leads to another motor, this one powering a thread reel that pulls he thread off the minigun barrels to make it fire. the switch is ued because once all the RBs are fired, the motor keeps pulling at the thread which is attached to the minigun barrel. i had to attach it because otherwise every time i used it i would loose the thread in the inner workings of the gun. and have to take the whole thing apart to find the end. the switch is basically to stop me from breaking the motor when the RB mech is empty.

just wanna make clear that this is a awesome gun. very good job, but I've got a couple of questions. 1) how does the belt switch work (when there is no belt it wouldn't fire). 1)How does the "I stop cuzz there are no RBs anymore" switch work. 3) the gun uses 2 motors?
