MILLEbot (Mine Investigation in Lethal Lunar Environments bot) is designed to investigate inaccessible and dangerous mine shafts and tunnels. The thing on the back is not a ray gun, but an ultra low frequency broadcast antenna capable of beaming information through thousands of feet of rock. Due to its success, its creator, Ignetek Corp, is exploring possibilities of a surface exploration version for distant planets.
About this creation
I came up with the idea for the legs on this thing a couple weeks ago and after Adrian announced the civilian contest I decided to put it to work. This was one of those builds that I had no idea what I wanted when I started. I just started with the legs and the rest flowed from there.
I experimented with colors as you can see on my brickshelf page, but I think I like the dark orange dish best.
It's not as intuitive as I had hoped, but the 'head' of the bot is the round part with the red light. The tall part is a spotlight.
