A reverse-leg or chicken-walker MOC alternative using parts from the 7708 Exo-Force Uplink kit.
About this creation
Introducing the UpLink Runner-01, an alternative configuration to the popular support mech, the XO4S 7708 Uplink. Featuring a light, rigid mobility frame with an integrated cabin, the ULR-01 places the pilot up close to the action in an open, sling-type cockpit.
The right, fixed forearm is equipped with a rapid-fire machine gun for mid to close range combat, while the left forearm typically wields a twin-barrel Pulsed Particle Cannon for mid to long range combat.
Other specifications are currently classified, with XO4S MechaLaboratories expected to release more information in the coming weeks.
Okay, so I'm a bit keen on 'chicken-walker' mechs... I blame Robotech (specifically the Zentraedi Battlepods and the Veritech Gerwalk mode...) so let's be done with it (>_<) - this little kit was the first new kit I've bought since getting back into Lego - and while I dig the orange parts, the mech was a bit plain looking, and I was curious to know if I could build a chicken-walker using just the parts from 7708.
Well, I did manage to do that, which was most satisfying, but I'll admit I also used a bracket to attach the windscreen from the GrandTitan kit, just to finish the mech off. Also, because of the limb configuration, I could use a 4x4 wedge as shin/ankle guards - the foot can still tilt as necessary while within the guard, whick kinda overlaps the foot - I thought this little detail was pretty neat. =)

Incoming! With that twin barrel PPC and the machine gun, the ULR-01 can really irritate larger mechs on the battefield.
