About this creation
Category: Microscale

Title: Attack on Delta Five! (A Battle for the Moon, er, battle)

My noble opponent: Jack Fronchezzz

Backstory: At a remote American outpost, a gigantic Soviet 'Cossack' lander has dropped from high lunar orbit and is disgorging it's complement of 'Guardyets' attackbots while causing havoc with it's tentacle-like arms. The poorly defended base has sent out it's few sentry bots along with unarmed mining drones to distract the Russian behemoth while the American scientists can escape. Luckily three U.S. 'Quark' spacefighters were in the area on a routine patrol and have joined the battle. Can the brave Americans defeat the monstrous Russian machine before more of it's comrades arrive?

Build notes: At first I was completely stumped when it came to thinking of ideas for a microscale build but then I looked at some themes I'd done recently and I remembered a few BFTM ideas I wanted to try in microscale so I thought why not give them a go? Initially, I wanted to have a large battle scene with lots of implied movement; I didn't want a static, boring moc. I thought an army of Russian bots fighting an army of US bots over control of a giant superlaser would be perfect (cheers to Uspez for the suggestion when I posted the original BFTM mocs) but it needed LOTS of nearly identical bots to work. Alas I quickly found I didn't have anywhere near enough parts to build a massed microscale army. But keeping the original theme intact I downsized it to a small skirmish over a remote outpost. Certainly not as cool as a giant superlaser but it explains the small and ragged arrangement of bots here. I tried to make the details self-explainatory so I'll leave the pics to tell the story.

Hope you guys like it. I can't wait to see Jack's entry; best of luck mate! How cool are these MOColympics?! So many great builders pulling out all the stops and creating some amazing stuff! Even if I make it no further I'm very excited to see what the rest of the contestants bring.

Finally the "real" battle for the moon ! The amount of cool details is impressive. My favorite part is the big Russian Bot... and also the fact that, for once, the americans aren't the winners, even if they're brave (If the russians has Korolev with them, it's obvious that they'll win lol). Amazing scene !

Sproule, I thought you could build. I mean all this time ...you totally had me fooled. I would have liked to have seen a new theme coming from you for the MOColympics. I really hate to have to say this, especially because it's you. But I'm going to have to give my vote to you. I really wanted to vote for Jack, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Do better next round Shanno!

Great stuff. The rag-tag Americans slapping some hurt to the Soviets in a last-ditch effort to stop the "spread of red" on the lunar landscape. Very nice -- good luck!

Now this is interesting! Great amount of detail and everything is nice and smooth, but the baseplate annoys me. I think this would be a better choice: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3947a. I also like the color scheme, kind of retro. ~M

You would be surprised to hear that I haven't lost hope just yet. Also, with my brothers' inspiration, I went the futuristic route as well. Coincidentally, it also takes place on the moon. I'll be posting later today. Oh... and as much as chris wants my name to be "Jake Fronchezz" It isn't. I am Jack Fonchezzz.

A scene like this is what I've been wanting to see for a while now and this is just, wow! The architecture has that perfect 'look' to it and I love it. The Cossack giant robot is such a menacing scale compared to everything else and the way it p00ps out small bots is insanely great. Cheers to you for building this!

Wow. That '50s "futuristic" architecture is marvellous... the colors are perfect, ecpecially on the... escape route-thingy and the russian gigantic bot. The almost invisible mini tank is really cute, and for my fave part... the rocket taking off is PRICELESS. A truly masterful MOC. Poor Fochezzz...
