The T-90 was Russia premier MBT till the T-95 came into service.
About this creation
The T-90 is an advanced derivative of the T-72. Advancements over the T-72 include a new gun, new sights, a new engine, and a new thermal sight. Its defensive measures include Kontakt-5 ERA, laser warning receivers, EMT-7 EMP generator, and the Shtora infrared ATGM jamming system.
The T-90AR is armed with 3A47M 125mm smoothbore gun; one 30mm coaxial machine gun and a remote controlled 50-caliber machine gun. The main gun is capable of firing anything from SABOT rounds to Anti-Tank guided missiles.
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Bulgaria, and Turkmenistan all operated the T-72. When the Caucasus states joined together they decided to upgrade their T-72ís to the T-90 standard. As the other countries were conquered there tanks were upgraded as well. In 2025 the Armenia T-90ís were upgraded to the T-90AR standard. They have seen action in Iran, western Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Bulgaria. The T-90ís are slowly being transferred to the reserves as the new T-115 comes into full service.
