An obscure weapon introduced on Star Trek: The Next Generation and never properly utilized... with good reason. Still, it's a favorite of mine.
About this creation
Being a rabid Star Trek fan I've seen every episode too many times to count and love the odd little details. I especially love the things that don't make any sense or are later retconned.
My favorite villianous race has always been the BORG and after rewatching the TNG episode 'Descent' I decided too make my own BORG phaser. After all why assimilate lesser species when you can just blow them away. Hell why have long range weapons when the episode is going to break out in a huge hand to hand melee...
I'll admit, while this may not be 100% accurate I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out. Regardless, It's one of two projects I've been working on involving the sparce variety of metallic silver pieces.
It's so obscure I wouldn't be surprised if no one who see's it here would even recognize it. Though hopefully that's due to the miniscule use of it in the series and not my rendering ;)
It only appeared in a small handful of scenes on ST:TNG, but it has always stuck in my head as a wonderfully pointless and obscure prop made to be forced into scenes to fit a specific dramatic scene with no regard for the race it was linked too.
Ahhhh well, Resistance is futile...
