LEGO TITANIC Model
LEGO Titanic, Titanic Ship, Titanic cruise liner, James Cameron Titanic. Titanic movie.
About this creation

While at LEGO MEXICO, I had the fantastic opportunity to create a LEGO version of the doomed Luxury liner, Titanic, just in time to have the 8 foot long model displayed at Walmart Mexico, who approached us in Lego Mexico for a model to promote the launch to video and DVD of James Cameron, Oscar Winner movie.

The project itself was really cool, especially having worked on the film prior to joining the Lego Group in 1996-1997. So I knew the ship, or actually the set built in Fox Baja Studios, near the border with San Diego California.

I decided to place the ship just instants before it collided with the Iceberg, because, this was the historic moment that made this ship so famous in modern history.

I have recently redesigned a smaller less detailed version, using less lego bricks and elements to reduce its cost.

With the 100 year celebration of the Titanic sinking, I am making available copies of my model, which are priced roughly around $1000.00 This price is mostly my cost of purchasing the Lego pieces and a few hours of building it.

I am putting together a list of Lego elements that are required to build this model, and also working on a 3D computer building 'instructions'

I have been looking for an actual Lego kit to make the Titanic myself so if it comes out in the future I would like to know. I am passionate about the Titanic and will be going on the 100th anniversary cruise in April 2012. Building this model would be an awesome experience.

My nine year old son has Tourette Syndrome and the one thing that seems to help calm the tics is building. Specifically building with Legos (something that seems to be pretty common). He's also a history buff about old machines; tanks, cars, ships, etc. So this is a combination of his favorite things. He's spent the last week begging me to help him put one together so it looks like we're embarking on this ourselves. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that ours will be quite a bit smaller than yours (and probably won't look nearly as nice!) - but either way this is fantastic and inspiring. Thanks for sharing it!!

Quoting Harabringer Doom veeeerrrryyyy good. P.S. did you know that three funnels on the titanic were real, and the aftmost funnel was a dummy?
Yes, I studied the Titanic ship before building it, and I also worked in James Cameron's Titanic movie for 6 months during he shot the movie in Baja Fox Studios, across the border from San Diego, CA. Wonderful and unforgettable experience.

Quoting CHRISTOPHER hub aaaaawesome maybe you could make an official lego set of the Titanic .I know a lot of people will buy it including me I would really enjoy it. Sincerly Christopher
I suggested it to them, when I was a designer working for them. Sets designed and sold go under a lot of bureaucracy, and it takes a year or two from concept to product on a shelf at a store... They will probably read this and then release a set in the future.

Quoting BMW COOL ye ye its good ship but he isint build it
As a matter of fact I did design and build the model in the picture. I worked as a designer for the Lego company for 8 years, in which I designed and built many of their models for store displays, and amusement parks.
