A Joint project between the Universities of the East and of Europe, the Sicily Observatory was built with much ado on a tiny Island off the coast of Sicily (where else).
The Observatory, though small, boasts enough room for the two astronomers needs. However, it is usually seen as a "punishment" island, for rogue star-watchers and the like. They can get nasty sometimes...
One astronomer from each continent is allowed at the observatory at a time. A Magi from the east, and a professor from the north. Their respective talents combining into an amazing display of scientific knowledge. They are truly, the geeks of their age.
back... With a Crab. They have been trying to catch that f***ing crab for years. Its too smart for even the smartest humans. Truly, we are doomed.
Each Scientist is allowed one retainer while on the island. To make sure the other scientist stays in his place. The Arab ones named Ali. That's a girls name!
Stairs. Don't trip and break your face. No help is coming.
The Cave underneath the Island boasts a fresh water spring for all of the astronomers needs. However, a small cult of Warrior frogs meets in the cave at times, too. You've got to be careful, numerous astronomers have been a little too cavalier in underestimating the frogs powers, and haven't been heard of since.
The orb hanging from the ceiling represents the sun. Yup. In the domed section the Astronomers study their findings, either from through the telescope, or artifacts from the cosmos.
Sorry for the shoddy editing, as I've said before, and good luck Brian!
Oh, and I didn't actually bring enough blue tiles with me to college to cover the whole front... Stupid me...
And the nest in the back is shamelessly stolen from JD Luse. And the smaller birds are from SlyOwl over on Flickr.
And with that, I will take my leave.
Go eat a Steak!
Cool. Original. Historically thought Provoking. I Particularly Enjoy how you have included Avanced Arabian Mathmeticians. Considering how people from What we now see as "Third World" Nations built, made, invisioned, Invented, Studied, and Created most, if not all of the technological aspects of our "Modern Civilizations"
Your imagination is amazing. I like every aspect of this. The tower and dome stand out. I also love how much detail you cram into such a small space. This is one of those MOC's you can look at for a while and still see new detail.
