My Round 3 entry for the MOColympics - Category : Classic Space - Group 1 - Opponent : Topsy Cret (see link below)
About this creation
So as you can see, I've made a beast, it's almost a SHIP - 96 studs long.
You should look at the whole topic, because the most interresting features are in the end ... I've worked hard on the playability factor ;-)
Sorry for the so-so pics, it isn't easy to get good pics of something so big !
It isn't as sexy as a Phipson's ship I know ;-)
Some other overall shots :
And now, enjoy this bunch of details shots :-)
On the sides of the back section of the ship, there's two little fighters which can be separated from the main body :
They can be combined to form a bigger ship :
Some other shots :
The front section of the main ship can be separated to become an heavy fighter !
This fighter can be combined with the two little ships from the sides :
Here are some details:
There's also an "hidden" ship in the mid section, here it is :
It also can be combined with the little fighters !
A shot of the interior of the main body of the ship :
On this final shot, you can see the five ships composing the modular system !
Hope you'll like it.
Today is my last day at my job, tomorrow I'll be on the dole. I'm sad because it was a rather cool job and I really don't know if I could get a new job soon, because the crisis is hard in France too... Anyway, let's get back to Lego : I've put a lot of work in this MOC, so I really hope that you guys will like it ;-) Sorry for the average quality of the shots, it was hard to take good pics of such a big thing (96 studs)
Here's the link to the homepage of my opponent, Mister Topsy Cret :
6/5 :D It has to be named as CS flagship ... You ore one of few people thats crations are so well that it force me to study your style very carefully. This ship has so many elemnets from Futuron so it enhances ships elegance greatly. Also, proportionaly this ship resembles of real war ships from WW II so it looks pretty realistic despite it is a Sci-fi genre. Thirdly, modular design allows ship to be very playable. I know I keep asking it so many times, but do you have some interior pics?. I know it would probalby not possible to take more because it isa n old date ship and it is probably scrapped already :(
Sorry I'm late. Beautiful Zorg-like Classic ship... I love modular vehicles and this is exceptional. I also like how different modules can combie among themselves. And of course the big and complex arrays and devices which are your trademark :)
You had me at the thumbnail but THEN you went and added ALL that AWESOME playability! It was cool enough that you had the ships that can detach from the main ship, but then having them combine to form other ships! WOW! And let's not overlook the interior you made as well. An AWESOME entry all around. You just floored me with this Crimso! You got my vote! ~ Chris.
Love the separating ships and variation of combo. And they're so well integrated that you wouldn't know their modular until u see it. Like the continues console and tile smooth floor of the interior as well.
How much parts was used for this.
Please check out mine. I'd appreciate a comment. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/150051
This is one massive high quality piece of work my friend, I like how you could disconnect some parts of it, which makes it more playable and even more cool, even when the bits off, it's shape still look great, it's one of your best without a doubt, looking forward to see more space creations from you >>> peace.. Firas :)
Well done Crimso, a massive build (very brave in the short time) with so many cool features. I love the playable elements and modular fighter craft - it reminds me of the 'top-of-range' kits I always wanted for christmas as a kid, but I always seemed to get the mid-range sets instead and bashed them together to make my own modular monster. I really sympathise about your job too, I'm being made redundant on Tuesday. To help get over it, my next MOC is a fantasy where my sig-fig gets some revenge on my boss - it's been a source of great stress relief! Keep positive, I keep telling myself there is work out there, it's just finding it. I'm going to spend some days with my kids and find a better job for me and them. In the meantime, perhaps we should start a new group 'Unemployed EuroFOLs'! Good luck(in everything).
A masterpiece Crimso! Well done-the smaller fighters combining in different ways is an absolutely fantastic feature! I love it to bits. And yes I have trouble photographing large mocs too. Sorry to hear about your job-hope you get another one very soon!
Well, that's one big sucker. Lots of stuff going on. The modular ships are cool. Some of the parts might be newer but they are used in a CS way, at least in my mind. Who knows what the judges might think. Good Luck on your entry and with the job search. Hopefully the economy will start to bebound soon. see ya. garth
Oh WOW! I love all the combinations of the modules. This is really playable. I am sorry to hear about your job. Hope you find something nice soon! (And if not, you get to have a little more time building lego ;-)
Good grief, who builds a SHIP (close enough) for MocOlympics?! The genius of this MOC is its playability. While looking at the pics, I was thinking about how much fun I would have had with this as a kid: each different ship combination would have its own power ups, special abilities and advantages. It's interesting how you used two different CS color schemes but kept each one distinctly grouped together, it looks like the CS guys just kept building this over the years (very cool). This rocks Crimso and you would have smashed me had I made it to this round!
Now this is a ship right up my alley! Personally I favour Minifig scale and function. Not only have you managed to combine the two, you have created a HUGE ship and made it look beautiful aswell. Isn't that the hardest part...? Full ratings once again, and good luck to you both in the Olympics and finding a new and creative job.
Whoa... Nice one, Crimso. I've really got some work cut out for me. Although in all honesty, I think you may have been building with Zorg too much. There are so many elements here that aren't even as old as the 90s! Still though, you might just win.
Bravo Crimso
It's amazing how the ships can not only combine with the mothership but also with each other. The mothership itself is huge (is it your biggest creation? I think it might be) and well detailed. Topsy Cret has his work cut out for him.
O.M.G. Holy heck man, this is off the rails, it is so hard to make something so big in mini-fig scale and have it look good, but you nailed it. The modular features are insane! The options are amazing and the interior seems to be really well worked. This is too big to comment on everything properly, so I'll just say I'm blown away. P.S. If only we could all get a job playing LEGO! Hang in there mate.
